Description
Nestled on the edge of Bealnaclugga, an inlet of Galway Bay, is the house designed by the host, an Architect, to embrace the wild landscape of the Burren and its natural light. The house sits on an acre of rough secluded landscaped gardens. From the deck the only building visible is the ruin of a 15th century Castle. In 2009, Fergus and Katherine sailed from these waters on their self built yacht to complete a 40,000 mile circumnavigation. The ever changing skies and birdsong are a constant. The space This private, relaxing home is the perfect place to take a break with friends and family. Situated in the Burren and on the main route of the Wild Atlantic Way, it's the ideal base for exploring Clare and within easy access to many local walking routes. The property consists of 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large bright dining room, fully equipped kitchen and tv room. It can comfortably sleep up to six people . I am an architect by trade and designed the house to integrate sympathetically into the wildness of the Burren landscape. The buildings wrap around an enclosed courtyard with large glazed windows to strategically let natural light flow throughout the house. Dooneen House is a peaceful , quiet place perfect for a retreat from the stresses of daily life for a couple of days. It is truly a special place. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do. Fergus and Kay. Guest access Guests have access to the following areas: car parking, hall, media room, dining area and its patio, the kitchen / utility, the three bedrooms and two shower rooms one en-suite with a jacuzzi bath, the courtyard and grounds. Other things to note Unfortunately my painters studio / workshop / office situated next to the main house are not open to guests. The pool in the courtyard is drained during letting for safety reasons. The shower/toilets rooms are clear glazed without blinds, privacy is gained by the nature of the site. There are two steps Within the house and steps in the entrance route which may impair the ambient disabled. The spiral staircase from the Media room to an overhead mezzanine office is not for guests use and also it could prove hazardous. This is a rural area so we would highly recommend renting a car or driving your own as access to public transport is limited. There are plenty of restaurant options within 15 mins. drive of the home but no local grocery store, so we recommend stopping off in Kinvara to pick up some supplies if you plan on cooking during your stay.
