Bedford House, Brighton

Bedford House is one of Brighton's top Regency houses with amazing direct sea and pier views. Built around 1810, potentially as a seaside home for the Duke of Bedford, the house later became the home of the playwright Sir Terence Rattigan. Nobility and famous actors such as Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh have been frequent guests. The house can sleep 12 people in 6 large bedrooms (3 ensuite). There are 2 reception rooms, a Study/Library and an Art Deco Cinema room with bar. The space Bedford House has 2 large ornate reception rooms with amazing sea views. There are 6 large bedrooms, 3 with ensuite. Three bedrooms have super king size beds, the other 3 have 2 single beds in each. There are 2 fully equipped kitchens with Miele or Smeg appliances. Additional rooms include a study/library/games room and a fabulous Art Deco cinema room with a full bar. Please see the description below of the rooms and accommodation offered on each floor: BASEMENT 3 bedrooms, one with a super king bed, the other two with 2 single beds in each room. There are 2 bathrooms with showers. A full kitchen is available with two oven cooker and induction hob. The cinema room is on a lower level to bedrooms and contains a wonderful Art Deco Bar and 75" TV with surround sound is located in the basement away from the bedrooms. There is a staircase connecting the basement to the ground floor kitchen. GROUND FLOOR A large modern kitchen with Everhot range cooker with 2 full ovens, a warming oven and induction hob. Combination Miele steam oven, Miele microwave. Double fridge freezers. Dishwasher, double sinks. The kitchen table is on wheels and can be moved into the centre of the kitchen. Ideal for casual breakfasts or presenting a buffet meal. The sitting room has sofa seating for 6/7 people with a more formal dining area also for 6 people. There is a wood burner for cooler nights. FIRST FLOOR Ornate panelled drawing room with chandelier with two 3 seater sofas and 2 arm chairs. Piano. Real fire. Access to a balcony which can take 4 people. Study/Library/Games room. Writing/computer desk, card table. SECOND FLOOR Master bedroom suite with large dressing room and ensuite bathroom. Super king size bed. Dressing room with lots of storage and built in washing machine and tumble dryer. Spanish marble ensuite bathroom with separate bath and shower. Direct sea and pier views. Back bedroom with two single beds and ensuite. Sea views from bay window. THIRD FLOOR Second Master bedroom suite with dressing table, sofa, walk in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom. Direct sea views from the bed! Guest access Guests can use the entire house. There is parking in front of the house for one car. Other things to note If you are interested in renting Bedford House for your friends or family gathering please message me with details about yourself, number of people who will be joining you and the proposed dates. I will consider enquiries for using the house for photo shoots or filming. The house has been used in the past by the BBC and foreign TV and Film companies. Unfortunately I cannot consider any bookings for hen or stag parties nor for families with children aged under 12. Sorry.
