La Grange de Coumes between Arreau and Loudenvielle

Nestled between the Aure and Louron valleys, this secluded barn offers you peace and quiet while being close to Loudenvielle and Saint-Lary. Access will be on foot, on a path of about 300 meters. Solar panels supply the barn with electricity, an opportunity to change your habits. The barn is heated only by a wood-burning stove. A Nordic bath will allow you to relax and enjoy the nature around you. The space The Coumes barn is an autonomous, newly renovated fairground barn, located at 1100 m altitude in the municipality of Ilhan below a small mountain road. You will be surrounded by nature, in the middle of the meadows and at the edge of the forest. No neighbors but probably a few visits from does or deer. Access is on foot, about 300 m downhill, luggage will be carried by hand. (It is forbidden to drive down the road that leads to the barn). Electricity is supplied by solar panels (no EDF network). It is essential to be attentive to electricity consumption, especially when there is no sun, even if the generator takes over if necessary. This is an opportunity to adopt new actions to conserve energy. The barn is heated by a wood stove that must be fed regularly in case of cold. You can cook and use the oven in winter. 🔥For your comfort, it is essential to know how to control the fire🔥 Extra oil stove upstairs if needed. The first sleeping area is composed of 2 small 90 x 190 single beds overlooking an outdoor wooden terrace. This space communicates with the double bedroom but is separated by a door. The second bedroom is equipped with a double bed and an open shower room, with forest views thanks to its glazed gable. There are no shutters or blackout curtains. Large equipped kitchen, with gas stove, fridge and freezer, fondue set, candle raclette...(Please do not bring your electric raclette machine that consumes too much 😉). The Nordic bath, heated by its wood burning stove, is accessible all year round, it will allow you to relax independently and without restriction. You can enjoy a small campfire area to prepare your grills (grill provided) or warm up your evenings around the fire. Ideally located for many activities 🥾hiking, snowshoeing, dog sledding 🚵‍♀️Mountain biking and road biking (trails and passes near the barn) ⛷️ Saint-Lary, Peyragude, Val Louron, Piau ski resorts 🏊‍♂️Balnéa 💦Canyoning, rafting Paragliding The accommodation is intended for 4 people (babies included). For everyone's comfort, we can't accept bookings for more than 4 people. In winter, the road to the barn can be snowy. You may have to wait for the snow removal service before driving. Provide safety equipment. Other things to note The barn is an unusual place, which will require you to change some of your habits, and that's what gives it all its charm! Energy saving is the priority, appliances with high power consumption must remain at home (hair straightener, hair dryer, raclette machine, etc.). The 2 terraces are not equipped with railings in order to enjoy nature and the environment. Nordic bath without bubbles No shutters on the windows Wood stove not protected for children, but a small firewall is left on site. Staircase not equipped with safety barriers. No Wi-Fi, limited network depending on location and operator. When you use coffee, tea, sugar, or food left by other guests, please play the game, replace them, and leave some for the next time 😉. For your comfort, it is essential to know how to make a fire, both for the Nordic bath and for the wood stove (the only source of heat in the accommodation). Access to the barn must be on foot, and for safety and site protection reasons we do not want vehicles to take the path to the barn. Please respect this even if you have 4x4 vehicles In winter, in the event of heavy snowfall, the walking path will not be cleared of snow. A shovel will be at your disposal… bring good shoes! A surcharge of €50 will be requested if the barn is not left in a correct state.
