La Grange de Coumes between Arreau and Loudenvielle

Nestled between the Aure and Louron valleys, this secluded barn offers you peace and quiet while being close to Loudenvielle and Saint-Lary. Access will be on foot, on a path of about 300 meters. Solar panels supply the barn with electricity, an opportunity to change your habits. The barn is heated only by a wood-burning stove. A Nordic bath will allow you to relax and enjoy the nature around you. The space La Grange de Coumes is a self-contained, newly renovated fairground barn located at an altitude of 1,100 m in the municipality of Ilhan, below a small mountain road. You will be surrounded by nature, in the middle of meadows and at the edge of the forest. There are no neighbors, but you will probably have a few visits from does or deer. Access is on foot, with a descent of about 300 m; luggage will have to be carried by hand. (It is forbidden to drive the car down the path that leads to the barn). Electricity is supplied by solar panels (no EDF network). It is essential to be mindful of electricity consumption, especially when there is no sun, even though the generator takes over if needed. This is an opportunity to adopt new habits to conserve energy. The barn is heated by a wood-burning stove that must be stoked regularly when it is cold. You can cook there and use the oven in the winter. 🔥For your comfort, it is essential to know how to control the fire🔥 Auxiliary kerosene stove upstairs if needed. The first sleeping area is composed of 2 small 90x190 cm single beds overlooking an outdoor wooden terrace. This space is connected to the double bedroom but is separated by a door. The second bedroom is equipped with a 160 x 200 double bed and an open bathroom, with a view of the forest thanks to its glass gable. There are no shutters or blackout curtains. Large equipped kitchen, with gas stove, fridge and freezer, fondue set, candle-powered raclette grill...(Please do not bring your electric raclette machine, which consumes far too much 😉). The Nordic bath, heated by a wood burning stove, is accessible all year round and will allow you to relax independently and without restriction. You can enjoy a small campfire area to prepare your grilled food on the ground in the traditional way (grill provided) or warm up your evenings around the fire. Ideally located for many activities 🥾hiking, snowshoeing, dog sledding 🚵‍♀️Mountain biking and road biking (trails and mountain passes near the barn) ⛷️Ski resorts: Saint-Lary, Peyragude, Val Louron, Piau 🏊‍♂️Balnéa 💦Canyoning, rafting Paragliding The accommodation is intended for 4 people (babies included). For everyone's comfort, we cannot accept bookings for more than 4 people. In winter, the road to the barn can be covered in snow. You may have to wait for the snow removal service before driving. Provide equipment for your safety. Other things to note The barn is an unusual place, which will ask you to change some of your habits, and that's what makes it all its charm! Towels are provided (1 large and 1 small per person). Energy saving is the priority, high-powered appliances must stay at your place (straightening iron, hair dryer, raclette machine, etc.). The 2 terraces are not equipped with railings to enjoy nature and the environment. Bubble-free Nordic bath No shutters on the windows Unprotected wood-burning stove for children, but a small firewall is left on site. Staircase not equipped with safety gates. No Wi-Fi, limited network depending on location and operator. When using coffee, tea, sugar, or food left by other hosts, please play the game, replace them, and leave some for the next ones as well😉. For your comfort, it is essential to know how to make a fire, both for the Nordic bath and for the wood stove (the only source of heat in the accommodation). Access to the barn must be on foot, and for safety and protection of the site we do not want vehicles to take the path to the barn. Please respect it even if you have 4x4 vehicles In winter in case of heavy snowfall, the walking path will not be cleared of snow. A shovel will be available to you...provide good shoes! An additional €50 will be requested if the barn is not left in a decent state.
