This is a bright and comfortable apartment that has been fully updated, but still has the historic charm of an older house (early 1900s). With an updated kitchen you have everything you need to fix a good meal or you can choose to eat out at one of the many restaurants and bars/brew pubs within close proximity. The bedrooms are large and on opposite ends of the apartment, which is great for privacy. This apartment is on the second floor of a traditional Chicago Style two-flat. It is warm, welcoming, and cozy. South facing windows in the living room and dining area allow sunlight to fill the space throughout the day creating a charming, comfortable hideaway. You are welcome to use the backyard, the front porch, and the shared laundry room in the basement. You will be staying in apartment 2 on the second floor of this two-flat, which will be entirely yours. The first floor apartment is also an Airbnb. We do not live on the property but we are readily available to answer any questions. We live a mile down the road and are always happy to stop by. Our home sits on a quiet, tree-lined street. Madison Street is only a mile away, which offers a number of restaurants, bars, and shops to explore. You can also venture a mile east to explore popular Oak Park, the home of Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway. Please see our guidebook for our restaurant recommendations in both neighborhoods. We are located about a half a mile / 8-10 minute walk to the CTA ("L") - Blue Line Train- Harlem Stop. This will take you to downtown Chicago. It will not take you everywhere in Chicago so make sure you know where you are headed before you leave. The blue line goes underground just after the UIC-Halsted stop so you will lose cell phone reception - make sure you know your stop! There are two entrances to the Harlem stop. If you do not already have a Ventra card, you will need to enter the station from Harlem Ave. The entrance on Circle Ave. does NOT sell Ventra cards. The house includes three parking spaces. They are located behind the house next to the garage. We rent the garage spaces out so you might see our renters coming and going. You are welcome to use all 3 parking spaces during your stay. If you have more then 3 cars, you can park on the street, but you will need to call your license plate number into the Village of Forest Park. If you do not register your car for overnight parking, you run the risk of getting a ticket. The first three nights of street parking are free and after that, the Village will charge you $7/night. You can register your car online or call it in. Online: http://www.fp-overnight-parking.appspot.com/ OR call: 708-366-7272. We rent out the garage out so you might see our renters coming and going.
