Lovely 4 bed Norfolk Barn with Garden near Beach
Lovely 4 bed Norfolk Barn with Garden near Beach
Description
The Wolery is a great base for Mundesley beach, a little known traditional English gem, just 7 minutes drive, with easy parking, colourful beach huts, sand, surf, dog walking and ice cream. Swafield is perfectly situated between the outstandingly beautiful Norfolk Broads and North Norfolk Coast and has an excellent butcher/deli within walking distance and superb Gastropub a 5 minute drive. The Wolery has that expansive barn conversion feel with lots of traditional flint and wood for atmosphere. The space The Wolery has a private and secluded feel being detached and enclosed by a lovely flint walled garden at the front. The lawn is bordered by mature beds and there is a comfortable outside dining area for 6. In the summer house you will find garden toys and beach equipment for your use. The private drive has parking for 4 cars and from the entrance gate you have uninterrupted views of open fields. It backs onto the Fruit Farm which adds to the rural atmosphere. The only noise disturbance is during the harvest in mid-August when the lorry from Ribena comes to collect the berries in the early evening. All 4 bedrooms (converted cattle sheds) have wooden beams and flint walls and are super cosy and well appointed. The barn creates a lofty and expansive living area in the middle of the property with its very high roof. There are 3 sofas around the TV comfortably seating 6 for a movie. The round dining table next to the Aga seats 8. It's fun to cook on the Aga but there is also a sweet little kitchen, fully equipped with cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The drawback is only one bathroom, but it is a nice one, large, with a big bath with power shower. One of the bedrooms also has an en-suite loo which helps. The limited number of bathrooms is reflected in the price. There is a dog house in the entrance hall and lots of space for coats and shoes The space suits a large family or two families/a group of couples (willing to share a bathroom!). The Wolery is a special place. It suits guests looking for a characterful rural retreat to explore a wonderful and relatively undiscovered part of the country at reasonable rates. Guest access You will have undisturbed access to the whole property apart from the odd cupboard which is locked. Other things to note The Wolery was originally built as a Cattle barn and converted as a holiday let in by local fruit farmer Michael Buckingham OBE. As well as being one of Ribena's premiere blackcurrant farmers, he was a keen conservationist and wildlife photographer. You may spot some of his photos on the walls. He also founded the charity BEFA which is still running and provides emergency food for the homeless. 10% of your rental will be donated to BEFA and the WWF. The name 'Wolery' comes from Winnie the Pooh, (Owl's quaint mis-spelling of 'Owlery') and during your stay you will find the magic of childhood return as you explore the delights of Norfolk.
