Description

The Tamarind Tree Permaculture Guesthouse is the ideal place to slow down, re-energize, and reconnect with what really matters. The Ladakh Loft, is a 100% ecologically renovated independent tiny studio. Natural isolation, hemp lime walls, vintage Parisian oak flooring and a very comfortable bed w/ linen sheets, a hippie lounging area, window and table facing the garden, and a mud straw kitchen. You have your own private shower and a skylit dry toilet. Hippie souls welcome! The space Since 2020, we have been transitioning our family to a more sustainable living taking the pre-existing examples of nature and traditional cultures. Today our home, our family, and guesthouse is a result of this endeavor. In our typical French countryside hamlet between agricultre fields and the forest, our home is an ancient post office stable with more than 200 years of old *rustic* charm which we are slowly renovating using traditional methods and ecological materials and. We work everyday to grow our own food as naturally as possible with a garden that is not only human friendly, but nature friendly too. We have chickens (some *wild*) and cats but we love also our wild birds, frogs, insects, worms, and even the microscopic creatures helping turn our food waste into compost. It is a simpler life for those who wish to live in harmony with wild plants and animals while still keeping one foot in the modern world. We live on one side of the house while you have your own private space. Ladakh loft is inspired by the notes of Helena Norberg-Hodge in her time in Ladakh. " nothing is wasted and nothing thrown away; a use is found for everything. In the very grain of Ladakhi life are the Buddhist teachings, which decry waste, and encourage the efficient husbanding of land and water frugality, that has nothing to do with stinginess but arises, rather, from respect and gratitude for the limited resources of the land. Indeed, it is pains-taking attention to each object and each moment that makes possible this self-sustaining culture that nonetheless provides Ladakhis with much leisure time. Our home is powered by solar panels and renewable energies In winter you can enjoy cozying up to the wood stoves and when the weather is nice, enjoy the patio and seating areas just outside your doors. Dogs and cats are welcome. They have access to our front yard. Baby cribs and dishes for children are provided. Guest access You are free to wander around our quirky garden and common areas and discover what projects we are working on. In the garden we have swings, sand pit, slides, and tree house for the kids. We have a share shop with seasonal produce from us, soaps, books, crash pads for rent, carpets, brushes, and guidebooks and two adult bicycles. You can park your car inside No car? No problem! Pickup service, electric bikes, and a small shop on site Other things to note our place is not for everybody* We are glad that since we started our sustainable life we never wanted to do things like everyone else was doing. With us you get the real deal, the good and the bad. After all, that’s what life is about, and it's a pleasure to share it with new friends. We find that people who wish to aloha 'aina, love and care for our nature and each other, tend to benefit the best from their stay here. Positive vibes are welcome! We chose not to have any cleaning fees, so leave the place in the same reasonable state that you found it. Although we do our best to clean up after each guest, it is an old farm house renovated with hemp, lime and clay without chemical cleaners so there is only a certain level of cleanliness to be expected. We heat only by wood stoves. The season of wood heating is mid-Oct to mid-April. We encourage our guests to avoid making fires outside of this period. Please use only biodegradable soaps, shampoos as our waste water is filtered by plants. We are a vegetarian house, if you choose to eat meat please do so respectfully. We are a smoke free household.
