New, luxury, escapist rural “bolt hole” barn on the Dorset/Sset boarders. The Old Bullpen is a newly converted barn, located down a private track amongst other (unconverted) barns making up part of an old dairy farm. “The Old Bullpen” has been converted to a uniquely designed, high spec. & includes many mod. The space The Old Bullpen is a brand new barn conversion set on the Dorset Somerset boarder with countryside views of the train line and Dorsets AONB. Located just a 20min drive to the Jurassic coast (West Bay and Lyme Regis) and just a mile from Crewkerne train Station (Exeter to London Waterloo) it’s an easy destination to get to and a perfect base for small families or couples to spend time exploring South Somerset, Dorset ideally located whether its exploring the legendary Dorset coastline (West Bay and Lyme Regis) for epic fossil hunting! Its also well situated to enjoy day trips at one of the many local Dorset attractions, such as Abbotsbury gardens or Swannery (35 mins) Monkeyworld and The Tank Museum (55mins) or Haynes Motor Museum (30mins) There are several National Trust and English Heritage destinations, such as Montacute House (20min drive) Barrington Court (25mins) and Forde Abbey (15 mins). The legendary Newt hotel and estate/gardens is a 35 min drive. Clarkes shopping village is a 40 min drive...and Glastonbury town..and its legendary tor! is just a 25 min drive. There are several lovely countryside walks which also link up to the for a walking holiday or simply a base to stay if visiting for a wedding / occasion. The Old Bullpen is a cosy, fun and uniquely designed space which retains many of the original features found within this old barn; originally used to house the bull on this retired dairy farm. It now also includes many contemporary and space saving features such as recess alcoves with built in lighting, a boiling water tap, induction hob, a micro cement worktop and floor, walk-in wet room, underfloor heating, bi-fold doors and built-in window blinds throughout. The Old Bullpen is located between the market town of Crewkerne where there are antique shops, greengrocers, pubs (including ‘The Crooked Swan’) a Boots chemist and a swimming pool and a Waitrose supermarket. Just four miles in the opposite direction you’ll find the little market town of Beaminster, known for its quaint yet relaxed feel with independents such as a fantastic bakery, greengrocers, coffee and gift shops a butchers, a pharmacy and eateries including ‘Brassica’ and ‘The Ollerod’. The South Perrott farm shop located just 1 1/2 miles away provides larder food and home provisions as well as homemade cakes, freezer meals, fresh fruit, veg, meat and dairy..and a milk vending machine where you can get your fresh local organic milk! The Old Bullpen has been tastefully and stylishly designed using unique materials and products and quirky lighting with space saving seating, dining and stairs it’s a small space but cleverly formed. Mod-cons such a walk-in wet room with rain shower, solid wood, cement and flagstone flooring with toasty under floor heating throughout, a boiling water tap, induction hob double glazing and mood lighting make it a cosy and relaxed space to enjoy. This is further enhanced by a large family-sized feather loaf sofa, feather duvets and pillows and full cotton bed linen…all to enhance your stay and facilitate a good nights sleep. The master bedroom contains a desk area, and the second bedroom; overlooking the lovely views, and with an en-suite, contains a king bed which splits into two singles. This also has bi fold doors opening onto the outdoor eating area. There is Wi-Fi available for those who wish to work and a smart TV. there is additional accomm available "The e>den" located next door is a beautiful cedar clad accommodation which can sleep a further 2..or 3 small adults/children. This space has been thoughtfully and creatively designed to maximise your feeling of funamd escapism. It has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with underfloor heating and large walk>in rain shower, toilet and large sink. fridge freezer, storage. large designer Ligne Roset sofa to seat 6>8. breakfast bar to seat 4 and has full glazing for a light and airy space; with views over the paddock and further on, to the train line beyond. This can be booked alongside the Bullpen and used as either overflow sleeping space, for teenagers or elderly family members to stay or as an additional living/play/party room to the Bullpen. Guest access The parking and patio / seating area outside the front of the Old Bullpen: Children may use the sandpit, and swing ONLY if monitored and supervised by an adult. We have alpacas in the paddock which are lovely and not aggressive but please do not enter the paddock (for your safety!) If doing so it is done strictly at your own risk. We accept no responsibility for the safety of this equipment or for any possible injuries caused to any persons using it. Dogs must be kept on a lead/with owners at all times and any mess cleaned up behind. Please let us know if you intend on bringing a dog/s. For the safety and comfort of all guests please do not low your dog into the bedroom areas, on bed linen or on the sofa. The barns you pass on entering the Bullpen are currently being developed. They are at the point where the work is inside and so noise is heard and this area is partitioned off. I can usually accommodate later check outs; if you would like this please enquire when booking ;o) Other things to note The third bedroom is on a mezzanine level above the kitchen and overlooks the living room. It is accessed by a steep staircase that may not be suitable for small children or the elderly. Guests use at their own risk. This includes a single bed seating and low seating area.
