The historic Dorothy Clark House, built around 1907, is in the National Historic District of Kennett Square, PA. We are downtown in the heart of the walkable Kennett Square Borough! This twin home has been lovingly restored to reflect its early 20th century roots, while providing a cozy place to relax while visiting our quaint town. We hope you’ll fall in love with the home like we have! 45 min to Philadelphia airport, 25 min to Wilmington 25 min to WCU, 6 min to Longwood, 15 min to Winterthur The space Please note this is a 3 story property and bedrooms are located on the second and third floors. The stairs are original to the house and while we love their charm, the steep steps are not for everybody :) Guests can park in the garage behind the house (2 spots) and enter through the back gate, through the fenced yard and onto the back porch. The garage is better suited for smaller cars and not large SUVs. Alternatively, guests can utilize the permitted street parking as available out front. We provide two guest parking permits with each reservation. There are Eufy smart locks on the front and back doors with keyless entry features. A check in code will be sent through Airbnb messages prior to your arrival. There is a covered front patio, great for coffee and people watching, outfitted with two vintage lounge chairs and an area rug. The front door opens off the covered front patio into a vintage curated living room with a slipcovered L-shaped sectional, two burnt velvet slipper chairs and a glass coffee table. There is a 55” smart Roku TV ready for your streaming services login, as well as a few games including Connect Four, Yahtzee, playing cards and puzzles. There is a designer custom desk between the living and dining room that can be used as a work area. The house is equipped with Comcast high speed WiFi. Walking through the living room you enter the dining room outfitted with four mid century dining chairs, a modern glass table, a vintage Florida bamboo sideboard, three spare dining chairs, a modern pendant light, and a colossal painting of Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. Through the dining room is the warm kitchen featuring original refinished hardwood floors, shaker cabinets, herringbone countertops and a refinished vintage butcher block island. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, cake pans, muffin tin, plates, mugs, cutlery, cooking tools, spices, olive oil, Keurig K-cup coffee machine, k-cup coffee pods, a French press, tea, electric kettle, creamers, sugar, rice cooker, etc. We are constantly adding to our kitchen equipment. If there’s anything you’d like us to have ready for your stay please reach out! The stove and oven is electric and there is a dishwasher as well. The freezer has ice cube trays and the fridge has a Brita filtered water pitcher. Exiting the kitchen through the mud room there is a covered screened in porch with glass table seating, two vintage Hollywood regency sofas, two armchairs, and a glass coffee table. There is an overhead fan with lighting controlled by remote. The backyard is fenced in. On the second floor there is one queen bedroom and one king bedroom. The primary king bedroom features one closet, two robes, a vintage empire dresser, a Zinus Green Tea hybrid mattress, designer pillows, luxury cotton linens, a vintage rug, views of lower Broad Street and the new Borough complex. The primary King bedroom also has an en suite bathroom with a fully tiled shower, vanity and toilet. The queen bedroom has a Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress, luxury cotton linens, designer pillows, a closet and a vintage art deco dresser. There is a step down into the queen bedroom. Both bedrooms on this level have overhead ceiling fans. There is a hall bathroom on the second floor featuring an oversized single sink vanity, designer fixtures, a fully tiled walk-in shower, NATIVE shampoo, conditioner and body wash, Cottonelle toilet paper and plenty of fluffy towels. On the third floor there are two beds-one twin and one full size, luxury cotton linens, a Jonathan Adler designer rug, and a closet. There is a small overhead ceiling fan on this level as well as air conditioning (May-October). *Please note the steps going up to the third floor are steep and not recommended for anyone with mobility concerns or for unsupervised children. The house is located in a quiet residential area in the Borough, about 5 blocks from the main street. We are directly across the street from the Friday Farmer's Market, and within walking distance to the Creamery and Braeloch Brewing! While we are in the quieter part of town-we are still in town! Light street noise is to be expected. The house is located one block away from Kennett High School. The local cargo train does go by 2 blocks away on occasion around 9:30am weekdays. Please-no cats allowed (I have an allergy!). Dogs are OK with notice and an additional pet fee. If bringing a dog, please make sure you have it on your reservation and the pet fee will be automatically added. No smoking on the property, no parties without permission and no more than 7 people allowed on the property at any given time. Guest access Guests have access to the full house, with the exception of one small owner's closet in the mudroom. There is a washer and dryer in the unfinished basement for guest use. Laundry detergent, dryer sheets and a drying rack are provided for guest’s use. Please do not allow children in the basement for safety reasons. Other things to note Please note the bedroom on the third floor (with a full and twin bed) has steep stairs. This bedroom may not be suitable for guests with mobility concerns, or unsupervised children. This is a historic home that has quirks a new home would not have. The stairs to the 2nd floor have one turn at the top. We have handrails and have installed a grab bar for use if necessary. The window AC units are installed April-October.
