Description
Welcome to our character filled detached coastal cottage, offering breath taking views over our village, the Great Fields, Appledore, Hartland and beyond! Situated on a hill, we are only 2 minutes walk from the heart of vibrant Braunton, and only a few mins drive to famously known beaches of Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough and Woolacombe. The space Our detached cottage offers an outdoor front terrace perfect for alfresco dining, alongside a rear elevated ‘secret’ garden accessed via steps to the side of the cottage. The garden comprises of a recently built large raised wooden decking, which makes the perfect sundowner spot to watch the sky come alive at night, we think it’s pretty magical! The BBQ, fire pit and apples & pears fallen from the fruit trees are all yours to enjoy during your stay. We have a driveway with space for 1 estate/van or 2 small cars, and can accommodate up to 6 individuals plus an extra little person (3 beds + a child bed). Our cottage has 3 bedrooms; the master bedroom is equipped with a super king / the second bedroom has a double / and the third has a futon double with a separate childs bed (can be removed if you'd like the extra space). You can enjoy the far reaching views from each of our light and airy rooms upstairs, whilst downstairs offers a snug with a log burner; perfect for those cosy evenings in watching a movie or warming up after a surf. We also have a country style kitchen, a downstairs toilet with a utility room and a separate living or dining room with an open feature fireplace with arm chair and love seat. This is currently doubled up as a play space for our toddler, however depending on your needs we can alter the layout to more of a hosting dining space. We put our cottage on Airbnb for a few weeks in the summer of 2021. Since then, life has been very busy, we have been continuing to renovate/ restore our cottage and have welcomed our little daughter into our life. Please note that although we will try to remove personal belongings for your stay, this is our home and a lot love, hard work and thought has been put into it. We hope that you will enjoy our space and take care of it as if it were your own home :) We want to make you feel as comfortable as possible during your stay and will appreciate any feedback you have along the way! Things we think you will love: • Braunton Beacon footpath directly behind our cottage, offering further stunning views • The Tarka Trail begins at the bottom of the hill (perfect for cycling and exploring North Devon) • 5 min walk to the famous Squires Fish and Chip shop and various cafes/ bars/ restaurants/ green grocers/ butchers • 3 min walk to a local highly recommended artisan coffee shop ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ their donuts are delicious • 5 min drive to a local farm shop on Sandy Lane for daily fresh veg • 5 min drive to Saunton Sands Beach • 10 min drive to Croyde Beach • 15 min drive to Putsborough Beach • 10-15 min drive to the nearest market town Barnstaple . Saunton Vineyard, a short walk through beautiful fields and views from our cottage . Sea Sauna at Saunton beach, perfect activity if you like sea swimming Things you should know: • Our cottage is full of character, but please be aware that it is 300+ years old. The floor is slightly uneven, the walls are a little wonky, the shower could be more powerful and the windows could do with some love! • The kitchen tap takes forever to run hot water, you are welcome to use the dishwasher throughout your stay for ease • We are fortunate enough to go to the beach most days, therefore our cottage is very much a beachy home, meaning sand is sometimes found in unusual spots • We live in a quiet part of Braunton, high up on the hill, however during busy times in the season (particularly summer holidays) our road can be used as a shortcut for locals to avoid the Braunton traffic. Our cottage is on the road, therefore sometimes it can be noisy in the day, although this does not cause us any issue as we are hidden and cannot be seen/ see the traffic. Please note, the lanes surrounding our cottage are typical of the countryside and can be tight. • We have lovely, lovely neighbours. They are all families and we aren't surrounded by holiday homes. Therefore we ask you to be mindful and respectful of this, having an 10pm curfew outside would be greatly appreciated. • Our home, unfortunately, is not suitable for anyone requiring easy accessibility due to the mass amount of steps we have in the cottage and the garden. It also involves walking up a steep hill from the centre of the village (but no hill, no views - I know what I would prefer!) • We have a very adventurous toddler (almost 2) and she has adapted well to cottage life, however please be mindful that the cottage is not overly child friendly, particularly in the garden due to the mass amount of steps and uneven ground. • Please enquire directly if you wish to discuss bringing your dog. • Although we do offer parking on our driveway, it is only big enough to occupy 1 estate/van or 2 small cars due to the layout of the space. If you are bringing multiple cars then you will need to park these a short distance away from the cottage. There are free, residential parking spots 5-10mins walk away (enquire directly about this for locations), or there is a super cheap village carpark at the bottom of the hill (free after 6pm-before 9am) • We only have 1 bathroom with a shower over the bath. However we do have 2 toilets with sinks, one upstairs and one downstairs in the utility We are ideally looking for Saturday to Saturday bookings. Please get in touch if you have any questions about our cottage or the surrounding area, we look forward to having you come and stay! :)
