Charming Woodstock Artist's House

Long before the 1969 concert, Woodstock was a thriving center for artists from New York City. Writers, painters, actors, and musicians spent long summers in their studios, surrounded by nature and like-minded aesthetes. Our house was built by Maverick Colony founder Hervey White 100 years ago, and we preserved its original charms by hand. Our neighbors are the landmarked Maverick Concert Hall, the town of Woodstock (just two miles away), and the whole of the Catskills, ready for adventure. The space The house, which is only for rent by the month, is 900 square feet, and it’s the opposite of a sterile IKEA airbnb. There’s a great eat-in cooking kitchen that looks out on the forest. We have one modest bedroom with a queen bed, and one small bedroom with a full bed. The living room is comfortable for long conversations and reading books, and we have a TV area with a nice sound system for late night movies. There is one bathroom with a clawfoot tub. We have central air conditioning, good wifi, a dishwasher, and a compact laundry set up. We are exactly two miles from the center of Woodstock, and one mile from the Ashokan reservoir. Our neighborhood is great for short walks, and there's plenty of hiking and of course the rail trail only minutes away. Guest access You have complete access to the whole house. We have a locked tool shed outside, and keep a few personal items in the locked buffet in the dining room. Two warnings: 1. Our fireplace does not have a chimney. No fires inside or out. 2. We do not have trash service. We live in the forest, surrounded by animals. That means you must take out your own trash and recycling during your stay. Other things to note Our home is extremely precious to us, and we want to make sure our guests treat it as gently and respectfully as we do. We don't think we're a good match for families with babies or very young children. Please introduce yourselves, let us know your plans for the month, and tell us about your history with Airbnb. All stays are minimum 30 days. We can be a little flexible on our start and finish dates -- for example July 25-August 25. Just ask.
