Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape! Our Riverside Retreat private campsite for four, nestled in the woods by the river is the perfect setting for a magical overnight! Our hobbit inspired hut sleeps two (large enough for queen inflatable mattress) and a level site next door fits an additional two-man tent. Relax around the fire pit, sit on the boardwalk bench and listen to the river, or take a stroll around the trails on the farm and visit the gardens and animals. The space The Riverside Retreat is located at Kairos Farm in Metamora on the river which is back line of our 30 acre property. We live in a very special community, roughly 36 square miles, known as Metamora Horse Country. The Metamora Hunt Club founded in 1928 still gathers for organized hunts in full traditional fox hunt dress, accompanied by hounds and beautiful horses and travel through miles and miles of trails that weave through property owners including us. The spacious properties have preserved the feel of a time past and the rolling hills are unmatched in most of the lower peninsula. This is real "country" but only minutes from the modern amenities we are accustomed to. Kairos Farm is a beautiful place, easy to get to, but certainly off the beaten path. Our 1860 restored barn which is also available to rent on Airbnb at "Beautifully Restored 5 Bedroom 1860 Barn" offers a rare opportunity to live in a space with the warmth and history of hand crafted beams and rafters and a cozy wood burning stove mixed with comfy beds, pool and ping-pong, large gathering areas, and views of Highland cows, sheep and goats grazing on the hills outside your windows. The heated in-ground pool has magnificent views and the flower and vegetable gardens, trails, and river give you the chance to slow down and breathe in nature. There is no city noise. At night you can actually hear nothing...(accept a few night creatures singing). Rustic Elegance, abundant wildlife, friendly farm animals, organic gardens, and some pretty nice hosts! “Kairos” We’re often asked about the name of our farm. “Kairos" is one of two Greek words for time. "Chronos", the other, is linear or chronological time. Kairos is a “special moment in time”. When noticed, these moments, big or small, invite us to reflect and even carry the potential for positive change. But in our busy lives they are really easy to miss. Our dream at Kairos Farm is to help people take a breath and slow down long enough to experience these Kairos Moments available to us each and every day. Guest access Campers will have access to the riverside campsite and the woods surrounding it. Guests are also welcome to visit our gardens and animals on our 30 acre farm. There is a porta-potty and running water provided approximately 100 yards from the campsite for your comfort. Bring your own firewood or purchase 1/8 cord for $25. We also provide a trash can on the site as well. No electricity, but fairy lights in the ceiling and 2 small lanterns are in the Hobbit Hut for your use Other things to note Campers should bring all camping equipment......tents, mats, sleeping bags, flashlight, lighter for campfire, bug spray etc. Bring your own wood or we can provide 1/8 cord for $25. Mats and sleeping bags or inflatable air mattress up to queen size will work well for hobbit hut. Please do not break branches and twigs off of trees. Site is meant to stay in it's natural state as much as possible. Please do not throw sticks in the river as it clogs the drain pipe that goes under the bridge downstream.
