'Casa Velha' is an exquisite space of coziness on one of the most beautiful routes in Serra Gaúcha - the Caminhos de Pedra. A renovated house from the time of the Italian colonization of the region, it is a versatile and private place, with no other houses around. It is perfect for working in front of a beautiful natural landscape, close to great restaurants and establishments on the route and in the city, or for a romantic weekend of relaxation and connection with yourself, loved ones and the surrounding nature. The space Casa Velha (Old House). That's what a young couple, one from Rio Grande do Sul and the other from the Northeast, called the only shack on the land they hand-picked to buy in Serra Gaúcha. It was a choice made on a map without even setting foot in the place. The blind purchase took place around the same time as the birth of Augusto, one of the couple's four children. Time passed – as it does. The hovel that served as a shelter when there was little on this land beyond the woods has gained rust and wear. Disuse was present. It was visited from time to time by the family, who had the habit of traveling around Brazil. Almost 30 years later, Augusto, now an architect, looked at the old house and took its transformation into his own hands. The peeling wall uncovers an essence of what happened there: the house is made of brick under basalt stones, characteristic of the region occupied by Italian families who dreamed of a slightly better life. Families who grouted bricks with clay to form shelter in a dense forest, still inhospitable. They built the simple - enough. And time went by – as it does. The Old House reveres the past – it nurtures respect. And now, it brings the new. Wood that was once used to form walls has been adapted to create an open space. The shutters of the windows that brought light into the house, a symbol of this hope, became furniture that supports and serves. Everything has been transformed, given new meaning. The origin of the couple who chose the land, years after the house was built, is honored. It brings Brazil – from North to South. From the heat to the cold. It brings it there in the simple, in the detail. Because time flies, as it does, but the simple things endure. Like the forest that surrounds it, the essence, after all, is the enabler of comfort and pleasure. This is Casa Velha. Other things to note The house is located near the host's house, where Jorge, a large and extremely docile caramel-colored mutt, lives, who sometimes likes to walk around the outskirts of Casa Velha. Due to the proximity to native vegetation, which brings such invigorating energy, some insects, such as spiders and ants, may appear. We seek to live in harmony and have never had any incidents.
