Ideally located on the historic street of Sheppards Barton, right in the centre of the beautiful market town of Frome.Only a 30 second walk to Frome’s main attraction Catherine hill. A wonderful cobbled high street, jam packed with quirky cafes,restaurants selling a delicious range of cuisines and local independent shops. Our two bedroom cottage has just been fully renovated to the highest standard with all the mod cons whilst keeping the original historic character that the property deserves. The space There are gorgeous views of Frome to enjoy from the top loft bedroom with its freestanding bath and vaulted beamed ceiling. On a clear day you can see the beautiful Westbury White Horse and Cley Hill. This room has a king size bed which you can snuggle up in and watch the flat screen tv with inclusive streaming services. Bath towels are provided for your stay. The bedroom on the first floor has two twin beds that can be pushed together if desired. This room has a wardrobe with hangers and a full length mirror. This room also has a flat screen tv. The bathroom on the first floor has a monsoon shower with the option of a hand shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, drinking/wine glasses mugs and cooking utensils. There is a boiling hot water tap, nespresso coffee machine (coffee pods provided) induction hob/oven, toaster and refrigerator with a very small freezer section. The dining table has room for 4 people. The lounge has a two seater sofa and two armchairs. We know your stay with us will leave you with the fondest memories of a cosy but luxurious stay with the added bonus of the convenience of exploring Frome within minutes of the cottage. Just to note that the stairs in the cottage are steep, so the elderly or very young children may find it challenging to get to the upper floors. Guest access You have access to the whole of Rose & Star Cottage. It has its own front door with a slight step up to enter the property. There is a keysafe by the front door containing the keys to the cottage. On booking you will receive the code. Other things to note Just to note that the stairs in the cottage are steep, so the elderly, people with mobility issues or very young children may find it challenging to get to the upper floors. There are regular buses to Bath and surrounding areas. The bus stop is just a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Frome train station is a 15 minute walk from the cottage, with services to many locations including Bath and London. Parking We do not have parking available at the property, however there are a few car parks nearby as listed below. All prices can be found on the individual car park websites; - Cattle Market - 14 Bridge Street, Frome, BA11 1BB (7 min walk to the property) 24 hour parking - South Car Park - 17S Parade, Frome, BA11 1EL (1 min walk to the property) parking hours 9 am- 4pm only. - you can also park on some side free parking streets around Frome. * Please note that these are all public car parks and not managed by the property, and therefore parking is at the owners risk, with no liability accepted by Rose and star cottage. Local Recommendations to Frome (we will send these to you also when you book in) We have put together a list of our favourite places to visit in and around Frome. All of them can be easily found on an internet search or maps. We hope you find it useful! The Discover Frome website also has allot of small local events listed. Restaurants (all independently run and within 5 minutes walk of the cottage) The Rye Bakery Cafe (delicious locally made breakfast/lunch/breads hosted in a beautiful old church) The Riverhouse Cafe - a fabulous range of varied and unusual delicious breakfast/lunches. Veggie and vegan options. Projects - breakfast/lunch The High Pavement ( freshly made tapas) Early booking recommended. Dinner only. The Little Walcott (British Cooking) The Archangel (Great pub food) Castellos (Italian) A drive away = The Talbot Inn (Great pub food) This is our favourite which is about a 10 Min drive from the cottage to a beautiful village called Mells. The Bath Arms at Longleat ( Great pub food) The Walled Garden Cafe in Mells (Lunch) (open from April) Mells village shop/cafe Spas Aqua sana forest spa (my favourite) Homewood Hotel and Spa (has good food) Cocktail Bar = The Hide Away Take aways - •Jays Kitchen (Indian) (10 minute drive but they may deliver depending on size of order. Can dine in too. •Dragon Pearl (Chinese) walkable from the cottage. Places to visit - Within walking distance = •Catherine Hill shops and Frome High Street. Cheap street has a cute little stream running through it and lots of yummy cafes to people watch from 😋 •The Cheese and Grain Events Space - has lots of music bands and other bookable events. They have cafe and bar on site. •Frome Independent Market (first Sunday of the month from March) just outside the cottage door. •Frome Farmers' Market Takes place every month in the Cheese & Grain Hall, Frome. Every 2nd Saturday of the month all year round from 9 am - 1 pm. •Frome Guided Walks A drive = •Longleat Safari Park (15 mins drive) •Royal City of Bath (35 mins drive) •Glastonbury Town (40 min drive) •Stourhead ~ National Trust (20 min drive) Walks - Rodden Meadow - a 5 minute walk from the cottage which has the river Frome running through it and benches to sit on. Walk along Willow Vale and you’ll come to rodden meadow. Mells River Path (7 min drive) parking at Vallis Vale parking on maps. Heavens Gate (15 min drive away) with beautiful view of Longleat and some lovely stone structures. Shearwater - (20 min drive the tea rooms are usually open) Vallis Vale - (8 mins drive or 45 min walk ) a beautiful walk along the river. Cley Hill (10 min drive) Children’s Entertainment Victoria Park at the top of Park road - has a great playground and skate ramp. The cafe behind the playground is usually open from March till October. There is a sandpit and playground opposite the cafe for younger children( 5 minute walk from the cottage) Welshmill Park on Welshmill Lane is by the river Frome and has a great playground, bike track and woodland forest play area. (10 minute walk) Whiterow Farm Shop/Restaurant/Fish & Chip Shop has a lovely playground for children (20 minute drive) Planet Volt - large soft play (20 min drive) Better for older kids up to around age 10/12. There is a space for young children. Farringtons play barn and farm - (25 mins) Good for under age 10’s. Frome Library often host children’s events. Local Supermarkets - Marks and Spencer (7 minute walk) Co operative - nunney road (6 minute walk) Sainsburys- Wessex fields (5 minute drive for a big shop and petrol station) Denude (5 minute walk) healthy wholefoods.
