The Granary - 1 bedroom cottage
Description
Looking for a peaceful couples escape, solo retreat, wedding guest stay, or small family getaway? The Granary is a charming 1-bedroom barn conversion on an old farmstead, tucked away opposite the village church at the end of a quiet lane with countryside views, generous living space, and a large garden. We don't offer ultimate luxury or the latest mod cons, but we do offer plenty of character and cosy country cottage charm. The space The Granary Cottage Built from local stone in the 18th century, The Granary is a charming one-bedroom country cottage that originally served as a hay barn and stable block before being thoughtfully converted into comfortable accommodation. Full of character and surrounded by open countryside, it offers a peaceful retreat for couples, small families (up to three guests - 1 bedroom!), with all accommodation conveniently arranged on one level. A small entrance hall provides practical storage for coats, shoes, and luggage. From here, the cottage opens into a welcoming open-plan kitchen, with generous dining space. French doors lead directly to the garden, where uninterrupted countryside views create a wonderfully tranquil setting.A short hallway leads to the bedroom and en-suite bathroom. On the other side there is a big living room with extra conservatory. Bedroom & Bathroom Please note that this is a one-bedroom cottage. The bedroom accommodates up to three guests and includes: one queen-size double bed (just bought at Harrods with brand new comfy mattress) and one single bed, chest of drawers, additional hanging and luggage storage in the entrance cupboard. A travel cot can also be provided on request. The bedroom enjoys windows on two sides, filling the room with natural light. Decorated in a classic country-cottage style with a selection of antique furnishings, it offers a cosy and restful atmosphere. The en-suite bathroom features a spacious shower (please note there is no bath), along with ample space for toiletries and cosmetics. Fresh towels and basic bathroom amenities are provided. Thanks to its thick stone walls, the cottage stays pleasantly cool during the summer months and retains warmth well during the winter, making it comfortable in every season. Kitchen & Dining The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and includes: dishwasher, microwave, oven, essential cookware and utensils, tea, coffee, milk, and basic condiments are provided for your stay. Please note that the kitchen hot water system is more modest than in a modern home, so the water from the tap may not be as hot as some guests expect for washing up. If you prefer very hot water, just top up the sink using the kettle. There are two ovens, although only one is currently in use. For families travelling with young children, we can provide toddler-friendly plates and cutlery, bottles, toys, and other useful equipment—just let us know in advance. The generous dining area flows naturally from the kitchen, making it easy to cook, dine, and socialise together. More Living Spaces In addition to the open-plan kitchen dining area, the cottage features a large separate sitting room with comfortable sofas and armchairs—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. You'll find: Fibre broadband throughout TV with DVD player and a great selection of DVDs plus a HDMI connection is provided so guests can connect their own laptop or device to the television and stream content using the cottage's fast fibre broadband. Kindly note: we do not provide terrestrial television. Instead, we encourage guests to enjoy a quieter and more relaxed environment while still having the flexibility to stream their favourite programmes and films. Please note the WIFI works in all rooms. An additional conservatory provides another lovely space to dine, read, work, or simply unwind while enjoying views of the garden. During cooler weather, closing the door between the conservatory and the sitting room helps keep the cottage warm and cosy. Garden & Outdoor Space The cottage opens onto a large private garden overlooking beautiful countryside. Outdoor furniture and cushions are provided (in the entrance cupboard) , making it an ideal spot for breakfast, evening drinks, or al fresco dining. Guests are also welcome to help themselves to seasonal herbs from the raised beds in our vegetable garden. Staying Connected The cottage benefits from super fast fibre broadband throughout, providing a reliable connection for streaming, video calls, remote working, or keeping in touch with family and friends during your stay.
