The space Welcome to our peaceful one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, bathroom, and a surprisingly spacious balcony overlooking a quiet lake and forest. You might spot rabbits, deer, squirrels, foxes, or birds right from your window! Enjoy free access to the backyard, private pier, and rowboat. There's also a shared lakeside grill area. In winter, there's an avanto (ice hole for dipping!) at the pier, and when the lake freezes, a ski trail often appears right on the ice. Next door, you’ll find a public sandy beach for summer swims. We’re pet owners and dog lovers, and your furry friends are warmly welcome—big or small! 🐾 Important note for non-pet owners: No matter how well we clean, the occasional cat or dog hair might still pop up. Hiking in nearby national parks Nuuksio, Teijo, Torronsuo... Finland is known for its pristine nature, thousands of lakes and vast forests. It won't come as a surprise that we have national parks just around the corner from the capital area. Winter activities: Winter swimming club at lake Pitkäjärvi with access to open water for swimming during whole winter: 40min walk, 5min by car, 10min by public transport. Oittaa cross-country skiing center and equipment rental, skating route - 15min by car, 40min by public transportation. After skiing you can dip in Oittaa avanto (a hole in ice) and warm up afterwards in Oittaa’s sauna built in an old stone barn. Vihti ski downhill skiing center and equipment rental - 40min by car. Winter swimming Niki, who is an avid winter swimmer, is more than happy to introduce you to winter swimming the right way. With her experienced but gentle guidance, you will cross this barrier and forever remember the feeling of sisu (sisu is extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity and courage that is presented typically in situations where success is unlikely.
