Description

Experience a tranquil stay in our secluded country estate, nestled in an idyllic setting and surrounded by 60 acres of private woodland and fields. Enjoy breathtaking views stretching to the Mendips and Bristol Channel. Despite its peaceful location, we're just a 25-minute drive from Bristol and 10 mins from Bristol Airport. This unique family home brims with character and original features. If you appreciate a rustic charm and can embrace its quirks, this is the perfect rural retreat for you. The space Our Victorian mansion, designed in the gothic style reminiscent of London’s Strawberry Hill Gothic, stands as a unique and historic gem, built around the same time as the nearby National Trust property Tyntesfield. Its 2 acre lawned garden is graced with a stunning view of the mendip hills - classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty - and is full of rural charm, welcoming a plethora of wildlife characters... Wild birds, Badgers, Hedgehogs, Deer, Bats and honey bees all call this garden their home.. At almost 200 years old, the house is brimming still with original features, antique furniture and ornate floral designs, whilst we make every effort for the house to be clean and tidy - the reality is there maybe a place or two where a cob web develops. Guest access The guests will have sole access to the house and gardens. Separate annex shares the drive parking and access to separate entrance which is through side garage. Other things to note The stunning natural phenomena of Cheddar's limestone gorge and the Wookey Hole caves, with over 60,000 years of history, and home to the world famous cheese are only 20minutes away. Weston-Super-Mare is only 25min drive away and packed with things to do with the family such as the Grand Pier, the Beach and Puxton Park Farm attraction. Why not explore some of the Mendip Way, an incredible 50-mile long-distance trail that winds through the hills or the local Strawberry Line, a former railroad now used as a flat walking and cycling trail where you can hire bicycles to explore. Close by resides Yeo Valley Organic Gardens, open to visitors with seasonal produce to explore and a lovely café for coffee and cake. There are 2 pubs that serve food in the village of Wrington itself, and the celebrated ‘Crown’ - Good Pub Guide's short list of England's best 'unspoilt' pubs - is in the next door village of Churchill. With Bristol just a 25-minute drive away, a day spent in the hub of this city offers restaurants, shops and a world of art and contemporary culture awaiting discovery. If a decadent day out is what you desire, the beautiful World Heritage city of Bath is a 50-minute drive away, promising the amazing Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and a heavenly selection of Boutique shops and divine eateries. Venture to Longleat to uncover the famous stately home, the wildlife and safari park, Longleat Hedge Maze and much more. For the history lovers, explore the city of Wells where its exquisite Cathedral and charming market await, or venture to Glastonbury to uncover the Tor, ruined Abbey and Holy Well. Journey to Brean on the coast, where a seven-mile stretch of beach and sand dunes offer a much-needed dose of vitamin sea, or discover the promenades at Burnham on Sea, and take a cold water swim at Clevedon Marine Lake, not forgetting the nearby seaside resort of Weston Super Mare and beyond. Between June and September cooking will be on the electric oven, hobs and microwave as the oil fired Aga is switched off for the summer.
