Description
Easy tent camping in the heart of the Finger Lakes! The space One of the best aspects of this campsite is it’s location. Located on state route 414 in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine country you will be 15 minutes from Corning, 10 minutes from Watkins Glen/Montour Falls, 35 minutes to Ithaca. A nice 20 minute back roads drive gets you to the east side of Keuka Lake Wineries. Similar travel time to the east or west side of Seneca Lake as well. 2 miles from Watkins Glen International Speedway. There is 30 acres of property to explore with small creeks, woods, meadows, and numerous berry patches. Many chill spots to relax and enjoy nature. Please note: this will be “roughing it.” This is an off the grid property. There is no 110v power source, refrigeration or drinking water source on the property. You will have to bring all drinking water, food and beverages that you will require for your stay. The tent is technically a 6 person tent, with a center height over 6 feet and room for standing as well as additional floor space for storage of your belongings. It is situated about a 3 minute walk from the parking area, so all belongings will need to be carried in and out. The tent does have a rain fly, but will not keep out all the moisture in severe downpours. ***Please bring your own sheets, pillows, blankets, etc. There is no electricity source anywhere on the property. Please plan on using your vehicle or other means for all your charging needs. There is an on-site porta potty a short hike away, near the parking area. The creek on the property is often not deep enough in the summer for full submerission/bathing Please feel free to ask any specific questions. Thank you for reading all of this! All this being said, we love this property in the summer and fall and are eager to share it with outdoor minded folks as it is a great home base for a true Finger Lakes adventure. Guest access All guests will have the right to wander and relax on any of the public areas of the 30 acre property. This includes a small deck overlooking the creek and the road, multiple fire pit areas, open meadows, woodlands, creeks and a beaver pond. Please note there may be 1-3 other campsites set up on the property during your stay. Please respect other guests’ space and privacy and do not wander through other campers sites. Other things to note General Neighborhood Noise: This property is located along state route 414 and two miles from Watkins Glen International Speedway (a world famous race track) which makes it a convenient location to lots of local action BUT the road creates noise. This campsite is at least 200 yards from the road, with some trees and bushes in between but you will still definitely hear passing cars and trucks. The road is busiest from 7am - 8pm. Additionally there is a freight train that comes through around 8:30am and 2:30pm daily running two and from the salt mine. The whistle and rumble is hard to sleep through and usually serves as a morning wake-up call at the campground, if you’re not up already. While large races run at the track only a few weekends a year, there are often motor clubs and private users who rent the track to run their own cars. During the day, you will most likely hear some of that action on the track (2 Miles away). There are nearby neighbors who seem to enjoy riding thier ATVs at night on random occasions, as well as neighboring farm animals and wild animal residents (owls, coyotes, deer, wild turkeys) that may make some noises in the night. This is all to say, that this campsite will not provide you total natural silence at all times. It is generally very quiet at night until dawn, but if you are a sensitive sleeper you may want to pack ear plugs OR seek a different camping experience.
