The space Enjoy a peaceful part of Granada in our fully-equipped, two-bedroom apartment with ample outdoor living space and easy access to both the city center and the surrounding Andalusian countryside. There is endless biking (road, gravel, and mountain bike), hiking, and walking in all directions. Evening walks along the Asequia Gorda and the Rio Genil give you a chance to reflect, as well as enjoy nature and maybe even score some local produce from one of the sellers along the river. Recently remodeled, the apartment has a spacious, self-catering kitchen, two full bathrooms, and a comfortable living room/dining room area. Stroll to the closest town center 12 minutes away for a morning coffee or an evening tapa at one several bars/cafés — each with their own personality. Listen up on Mondays between noon and 1 p.m. for a roving vendor who pulls up in his mini truck and announces "Huevos!" (eggs), which he sells (along with cheeses, baked goods, and local oranges when they are in season). Monday through Friday witness the growth of a new generation as students enter the elementary school kitty-corner from the apartment. School starts at 9:00. Guest access The apartment features a large open-plan concept with full kitchen, dining area, and living space. Step through the door at one end for access to the private patio with table and chairs for two. At the other end you'll find the master bedroom with a queen bed, or guest bedroom with two twin beds. The master bathroom is big enough for two, while the smaller bathroom affords you all the privacy you require. You can also languish in the enclosed courtyard that's just outside the front door with grill, table and chairs for four, and wraparound garden. Avoid the hassle of driving and parking in Granada's city center by walking three minutes to the Carretera de la Sierra bus stop. Take the opportunity to chat with the locals as you ride the bus 12 to 17 minutes to the center, where you can enjoy visiting Granada's most treasured sites and monuments. Other things to note We are Wendy and Hicham, dedicated cyclists who arrived in Granada from the U.S. in 2009 to take advantage of the abundant cycling that Granada has to offer. As bike messengers in San Francisco, Calif. in the 90's, we developed a taste for climbing big hills, which is what attracted us to Granada. We took our time to find a place that would offer our guests quick access to outdoor recreation, like cycling, hiking, and skiing, yet is within easy reach of downtown Granada. We also love to cook and indulge in "reconnaissance" excursions to restaurants, bars, and cafés, not only in Granada, but also whenever we travel. Given its rich growing season, Andalusia has some of the best fruit, vegetables, ham, cheese, and wine in all of Spain. We can recommend where to go and/or who to buy from to get a literal taste of Andalusian cuisine.
