La Puerta del Mar

A masterful combination of disappearing glass and vast ocean expanse that blurs the line between indoor living and the outdoor terrace. Perched high above the confluence of the Navarro River and the Pacific Ocean sits La Puerta del Mar- 3 bedrooms (all king-size beds), 2 bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, gas grill, 1800+ square feet, high-speed internet access, sauna and hot tub. Fireplaces are decorative only due to insurance restrictions. The space Welcome to La Puerta del Mar, perched above the mouth of the Navarro River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. On nearly two private acres just a few miles south of Mendocino, this spacious home is ideal for up to six people traveling together, or for a romantic getaway just for two. Time slows down as you watch and listen to the waves, and after a soak in the six-person hot tub, you'll sleep like a baby. Or you can warm up in the Finnish wet/dry sauna -- yes, we have a sauna! If you can't quite leave work behind or want to stream a movie or two, we've got super-fast internet service (from Further Reach). We have two televisions; Living Room and Master Bedroom. Your four-legged friends are welcome at our house, and we have a huge fenced area for them to enjoy. Please let us know you're bringing your dog. All we ask is that you clean up after your pup, make sure they're up to date on flea and tick preventive meds, and don't leave them unattended at the house or in the yard. Please use provided coverings for furniture if your dog jumps on couch or beds. We have some pup gear for you (super soft fleece blankets, dog beds, poop bags, dog bowls, etc.). Two dogs maximum, and they must be house trained. We love to cook, and we've aimed to stock our kitchen with everything you'd need to whip up dinner: a large set of Calphalon pots and pans, a 16-piece J.A. Henckels knife set, a processor, a pizza stone, baking pans, a nice selection of spices, olive oil, and vinegar. We take our coffee seriously, and we know it's likely you do, too, so we've got a drip coffee pot, a French press, a moka-style espresso maker, a burr coffee grinder, and an Aerolatte milk frother. For those traveling with little ones, Pack and Play and kid-friendly dinnerware. From your home away from home, you'll have easy access to Mendocino, beaches (Navarro Beach is less than five minutes away by car, with plenty of free parking), wineries, parks, and cute Northern California towns. But really, it's OK just to relax, watch for dolphins and seals, and read a book. You'll go home rejuvenated, we promise. Please note: Parking is outdoors. There is a flight of 28 stairs from the parking pads down to the home. Inside the house, there are two steps down to the living area and two steps back up to the dining area, kitchen, two of the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms. Because of parking limitations, our septic system, and our desire to maintain our home in top-notch condition, no parties, weddings, or events are allowed. Maximum occupancy is six guests, including children. Prices include 10% Mendocino County Transient Occupancy Tax & 1% Business Improvement District fee.
