The space The cottage is fully selfcontained and comprises separate kitchen, bathroom and living areas with one ground floor bedroom and one loft style bedroom accessed via stairs from the living room. Both bedrooms offer king size beds and stunning water views. The modern kitchen includes gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, huge french door refrigerator with all crockery, cutlery and glassware provided. Cooking essentials such as oil, balsamic vinegar, pink Murray River salt and freshly ground pepper, Tasmanian honey, cereal, rice and pasta are included along with a variety of teas, pod and French press coffee as well as fresh milk. Then for an evening in we also supply hot chocolate and marshmallows as well as popcorn for an extra treat in front of the fire! Living room with TV, super comfortable lounge chairs and custom window seat tailor made for dreaming all enjoying the most incredible views. Nectre wood burning fireplace for those chilly nights with wood supplied. The modern bathroom includes double marble vanity, shower and gorgeous bath all kept toasty warm with underfloor heating. A large balcony is accessible from the living room, with outdoor setting and bar to allow you to enjoy the birdseye views in every direction. After a day spent discovering the best of Bruny Island, the Channel region and the Huon Valley, come home to Wayward Mariner cottage and enjoy reading a good book from our curated library, with a glass of local red by the fireside, or stargaze over the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. And don't forget to keep an eye out for the local nightlife, with wallabies and pademelons in abundance. If you're lucky, you'll catch sight of a visiting quoll or devil who regularly visit the property. A walking track into the property’s 25 acre pristine bushland allows you to discover different vantage points over the Channel, experience native birds and other Tasmanian wildlife, and reconnect with nature in complete seclusion. The cottage is designed to give guests the ability to stock up and stay. A tucked away workstation and fast Starlink WIFI will enable guests to remain connected if they so desire. For those who want to venture out, you’ll be five minutes from Woodbridge (including the Peppermint Bay Hotel and General Store), 10 minutes from Kettering (for cafes and the Bruny Island Ferry), 25 minutes to Cygnet and the Huon Valley. Wayward Mariner is approximately 35 minutes from Hobart and less than one hour to Hobart airport. Several townships along the route, including Kingston (largest variety), Margate and Snug allow you to stock up on food before you arrive. If sailing into Hobart we also have a 42 foot mooring available for your use. Guest access The space has all the amenities you would expect in a luxury cottage. There are other dwellngs adjacent to the cottage which may be occupied - sometimes we're here, sometimes relatives are here, and sometimes other guests are here. The cottage is separate and screened, giving you complete privacy and a sense of exclusivity. It is designed to make you feel like there is no one else around. Other things to note Our bookings are room dependent. If you are a party of two and wish to use both bedrooms, please alter your booking to accommodate three guests. We unfortunately cannot welcome children under 14 or pets due to the danger of stairs and the wood fireplace. We do have basic pantry necessities which include: plunger or Nespresso pod coffee, ground coffee beans, milk, black and herbal teas, salt, pepper, cereal, vinegar and oil.
