Railway & nature enthusiasts, enjoy a full weekend away with late arvo checkout, in a stunning 120yo, 1st Class Railway Carriage. Experience some vintage luxury in a peaceful & secluded part of the Hills, renovated & refurbished in vintage items & antiques. Located next to the John Forrest Nat. Park, available for weekend stays, perfect for nature & bush lovers, & walks to the Hovea falls nearby. Consider the carriage for comfortable accommodation only, with many local eateries close by. The space The carriage is 120 years old, 17.5m long, which has been comfortably renovated to welcome 2 guests only. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the carriage as their weekend base unit, and take advantage of the many nearby local hospitality establishments for meals and dining out as well as comfortable bush walking/biking trails. The carriage has been tastefully furbished in antiques and vintage items carefully collected by us, all special items from back in the day which we think similar minded people would have an appreciation for. The carriage has 4 rooms, a bedroom, lounge, dining/kitchenette and bathroom. It has a good sized air conditioned bedroom with a very comfortable queen sized bed equipped with electric blankets for the cold nights, and there is a retro electric gas log fire for the evenings. The lounge room contains a working black and white 1960's TV, and radiogram, mini library with old novels and railway themed literature. The dining room/kitchenette contains a fridge, microwave, coffee pod machine, kettle and toaster. Plates, bowls, glasses, cups, cutlery and essentials like tea and coffee and milk are provided for guests. There is a good sized fridge available for guests who wish to bring along food from home, and the microwave has been included in case guests would like to reheat take away meals. The carriage is not suitable for cooking meals of any type. The bathroom contains a deluxe shower, vanity basin and toilet, towels are included. There are a range of old classic videos, books, jig saw puzzles for quiet reflection time, or sit out on the full length verandah with a hot beverage or glass of wine and enjoy the birds, trees, bandicoots and the flowing creek in the wet months. The native gardens have been extensively worked on in the past few years, and are a favourite spot for black cockatoos, golden whistlers, western spinebills, pardalotes and new holland honey eaters, bandicoots, possums and kangaroos. Guests are encouraged to bring their bikes or canoes to store in the secure "Station Masters" cottage alongside the parking area. The bridal trails run alongside our property, with Falls Park and the waterfalls just 3 minutes walk away on our door step, or enjoy a bike ride to the Hovea Falls, Swan View Tunnel, or Mount Helena Tavern. Lake Leschenaultia is a 20 minute drive away in Chidlow, and open for most of the year round. The Parkerville Tavern is a short 600m walk away for meals, live music and Wifi. We feel our place is ideal for couples who want to have a quiet weekend away, to enjoy bush walks, bird watching, a pub lunch or dinner and some quiet contemplation. The Mundaring Hotel, Mahogany Inn and Malmalling winery are nearby and are worth a visit. Guest access The entire carriage is your private place for the stay. We are always on site in the main house and gardens, happy to leave you be to enjoy the peace and quiet, or give advice and chat about local attractions if needed. Other things to note The carriage is set up for short stays only, so please only bring minimal or small luggage bags for your comfort, as the rooms aren't equipped to store large suitcases. The bedroom has a wardrobe which is the best place to store your luggage and clothes items, please use the draws and vintage clothes hangers! Please note, Airbnb lists a 'full kitchen' in the description with no alternatives available. The carriage does not contain or support any cooking, but does stock a fridge, coffee pod machine, kettle, and toaster, as well as a microwave for the reheating of take away food as required. Wifi is available as mobile reception is minimal. This is a bonus if youre trying to have real break away from the main stream!
