The space Your private room will be in a basement apartment of a private house. The apartment is 4 steps below street level, so it is not totally underground. The rooms have windows, the kitchen does not. The ceiling is lower than normal, 74 inches high (188 cm). The room has a Queen size bed and can host 1-2 people comfortably. (Queen size = 60 x 80 inches = 152 x 203.5 centimeters) We can also replace the Queen bed to 2 separate Twin size beds if needed. (Twin size =38 x 75 inches = 96.5 x 190.5 centimeters) Please, contact the host before reservation to discuss ideal room and bed configuration options. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 bathrooms and a hallway. There is NO living room area in the apartment! (But each room has a desk with chair and a TV.) When the entire apartment is not rented out all at once, the 2 individual rooms are rented out separately to individual guests. This means that the common areas (kitchen and bathroom) may be shared with other guests who occupy the other room. Our housekeepers clean the apartment and its rooms on a regular basis to have everything nice and clean for each of our guests. When individual rooms are being rented, before a guest arrives to any of the bedrooms, we clean that bedroom plus the kitchen and bathrooms. Each bedroom has its own smart lock, so guests can lock their own rooms with their own unique 4-digit codes. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and has new appliances. Because this is a basement apartment, instead of a stove/oven there is an electric burner only. The bathroom has a shower cabin. We have very fast Wi-Fi connection (Fios Gigabit)! We have Paid Streaming Subscriptions in all rooms: Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and more... ALL BEDROOMS HAVE: Dedicated workspace: 47" desk + office chair, desk lamp, 43" Smart Fire TV, 2 nightstands with lamps, alarm clock, wardrobe (for clothes), Air Conditioner (in the summer) We provide bedsheets, linens, bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes, body wash, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, paper towels, tissue papers, toilet papers, etc. to our guests. If needed we can also provide: hair dryers, iron & ironing board, cleaning supplies, make-up mirror, USB chargers, electric plug converters & adapters, computer monitor (for work), etc. In each room we have many electric power strips with multiple outlets, USB charging options and surge protection. THE KITCHEN HAS THESE: Countertop electric burner Microwave oven Refrigerator Toaster, Water heater kettle, Coffee maker Table with chairs The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking with pots and pans, silverware, and everything else needed. We provide salt, pepper and oil too. There is also a coffee/tea station with regular and decaf coffee. The kitchen table has 3 chairs normally, but we can provide as many chairs as needed depending on the number of guests. Guest access You will have access to 1 bedroom and the common areas in this basement apartment. The common areas are: Kitchen and bathroom. Common areas may be shared when other guests occupy the other bedroom. There is NO living room in this apartment! During your stay Hosts live in the same building. So if guests need anything they can always contact them. Other things to note Please, read the full HOUSE MANUAL for all the details! Be sure to read the HOUSE RULES and the CHECK-IN INSTRUCTIONS too! The host lives in the same building, so if guests need anything they can contact him anytime. This apartment is not suitable for pets, babies or small children. Teenagers are okay to come with their parents. There is a 5-step staircase going down to this basement apartment. No Smoking is allowed inside the apartment or inside the building! Doors have smart locks with number keypads. Entry codes will be provided to guests at least 24 hours before arrival. No physical keys are needed. There is no washing machine or dryer in the apartment that guests can use, but there are 3 laundromats within 1 city block walking distance. We provide laundry detergent if needed. Please, do not expect a high-end luxury experience. Our place is meant to be a convenient place to rest your head, both a value in price AND location for visiting New York City or working remotely. :) Our home is pest-free and we would like to keep it that way with your help. Please, do not leave any food out that will attract uninvited pests! Thank you! Toilet bowls in the USA have water sitting in them at a higher water level. This is normal. Hot water in the showers can run continuously for 1-2 hours straight. After this the boiler needs to reheat itself. For this reason, if 4 people live in the apartment at the same time, it is recommended that they take showers at different intervals during the day or take some breaks between each shower. (The boiler needs about an hour to reheat all its water fully.) There are no security cameras inside the apartment for privacy reasons, but there is 24/7 video surveillance outside the house in the driveway and on the streets for security purposes. Parties are Not Allowed! We have anti-party technology installed, which monitors (but does not record) noise levels live and keeps track of the number of people in the apartment. The Police is really close by too and can get to our apartment in 5-10 minutes once called. (Nothing bad ever happened on our property in the last 20 years, though.) - - - - - - - - - - We also rent the entire apartment out all at once. There is a separate listings for it here on Airbnb. Discounts are available for health care professionals and mid-term stays! We also rent other, bigger apartments out on Airbnb in the building next door. We rent out individual rooms separately. We also rent out entire apartments. Groups of 20+ people can book all these at the same time if needed. Message the host for details!
