Description

Charming countryside cottage with pubs nearby and excellent access to the M5, M42, and rail links. Part of a historic 400-year-old home, once the “Cock & Dog Inn”. Enjoy parking, a large garden, full amenities, and scenic walks from the door. Ideal for couples, families, friends, or business stays. For parties of two, please see our ‘2 guest’ version of the same listing. The space Welcome to Cock & Dog Holiday Cottage! The main house was built in the early 1600’s and it is understood was once a pub called the ‘Cock & Dog Inn’. The holiday apartment is a later addition to this and offers a delightful stay with versatile sleeping options to cater for a range of requirements. Whether you are looking for a rural retreat with the convenience of being close to all the amenities in one direction, or getting away from it all and escaping into the countryside through miles of footpaths and cycle routes in the other, this is a fantastic choice. Downstairs, the house is entered via a front door into a lobby with space for shoes and coats. Into the reception room, there is a comfortable sitting area with Smart 55” TV (I Player, Netflix etc) and open plan kitchen, with hob, oven, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, fridge. Tea/coffee and basic condiments are provided. Wifi is available; the connectivity is good and there are boosters to ensure you can access it anywhere, particularly for work trips. There is plenty of storage for suitcases and other large items in two large cupboards beneath the stairs. You will find the door to the second, downstairs bedroom and w.c from the lounge. This bedroom is a delightful room with some of the original stone walls on display and looks out on the garden to the front. Ideally set up as a twin bedroom, the zip-and-link beds do allow for this to be transformed into a cosy superking if desired. Please note that whilst there is a downstairs w.c., access to a shower requires use of the main ensuite bathroom upstairs. On the first floor there is a large bedroom with a work desk, wardrobe and a lovely hotel quality zip-and-link bed which can again be set up as either a twin or super-king bed. Comfort is key. The window looks out over the large garden. The ensuite bathroom off the bedroom has a shower bath and comes with complementary shampoo/conditioner/shower gel. Towels and a hairdryer are provided. Externally, there are various seating areas for you to enjoy your morning juice and/or eat al fresco during the day if the weather permits, maximising your enjoyment of the outside space. Guest access Whilst the holiday cottage is attached to the owner’s main home, the accommodation is self-contained and you will have a key to your own private entrance, to come and go as you wish for the duration of your stay. Cock and Dog Holiday Cottage is found on the outskirts of Stoke Prior, just outside Bromsgrove. Upon arrival, there is a gravelled parking area with room for one car. A second car can be accommodated by prior arrangement. Please send a message when booking if this is required. Other things to note Bromsgrove train station is 1.6 miles away (30 min walk or 6-7 min drive) and gives direct access to Birmingham, Worcester and the surrounding area. The M5 is just 5 mins away and the M42 10 mins. Whether this is for the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, work, history, visiting family and friends or entertainment, there are endless options. The Malvern Hills (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) can be reached by train directly from Bromsgrove station. Locally, Bromsgrove offers plenty of amenities and within walking distance of the cottage there are a range of pubs from 'gastro' to 'real ale', all of which sell food. The Avoncroft Centre, a short walk away, is England's first open air museum of rescued and rebuilt structures and is well worth a visit. If you need routes for walks, or cycle routes, these can be provided and for more serious cyclists, GPX routes can be shared.
