Cabin in Robbinsville
Description
Located in the Nantahala National Forest, Buffalo Cove is a peaceful getaway on the edge of Lake Santeetlah. Step down to the water and you'll see West Buffalo Creek feed the lake right in front of the cabin. Inside you'll find a tastefully decorated & remodeled lake cabin with all the amenities of home. Tail of the Dragon is nearby & an easy drive for heavy bikes. Sit back next to the fire pit and watch the fish jump in the cove or take the kayaks out on the lake! The space Buffalo Cove Cottage offers a newly remodeled sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our cabin offers the true "unplugged" feel but we do offer high speed internet via Starlink so you won't miss your favorite movies or feel totally disconnected unless you want to be. The cabin is surrounded by forest land and is very quiet and peaceful. The nearby road is lightly traveled by local residents. The living room has a gas fireplace available seasonally from October 1st through April 1st. The firepit is available year round (unless a local fire ban is in place) and firewood is provided. We offer two kayaks and a paddle board for our guests. We provide paddles, lake towels and life jackets. You can paddle from directly in front of the house all the way to beautiful Lake Santeetlah. Please note that we have no control over downed trees or lake level along the paddling route. Fishing from the bank is allowed (note that North Carolina does require a fishing license). We have caught many trout from the shoreline. The partially fenced side yard contains the firepit and is a great place to unwind and let your furry friends run, if you bring your dog. The lake access is on US Forest Service property so there may be others using the access point. In our experience it has been rare but do not be alarmed if others are fishing or kayaking from the bank. Once you come in from the trails or the lake, you'll find a brand new kitchen equipped with all the amenities you need to enjoy an evening in. A small El Primo grill/smoker and a regular kettle grill are outside - feel free to use any charcoal in the front closet but bringing your own is a good idea just in case. There is a Roku TV in the living room and in the front bedroom with lots of options available for entertainment. You can connect to your own streaming services if what you need is not already provided. A DVD player is in the living room along with a selection of movies. The driveway is a short uphill grade from the road, easily accessed by regular cars. Parking for at least 2 vehicles is available directly adjacent to the house on the gravel driveway. Parking for additional vehicles, including trailers is also available just below the driveway along Boomer Rd. The Cherohala Skyway and the Tail of the Dragon are only a few minutes away. The Tsali mountain bike trails are approx 30 mins away. The Nantahala Outdoor Center and the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park are approximately 40 mins from the cabin. Joyce Kilmer National Forest is less than 10 minutes away. Please note that there is no direct cell phone service available at the property but you will have cell phone access when connected to the internet at the cabin if your phone supports wi-fi calling. Due to the wooded area around the property, the internet does not reliably support video calling and may have short interruptions on voice calls. For normal internet surfing and television streaming you should have no issues. For gaming, the lag for the satellite service may cause issues. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house except the owner's closet which will be locked. Other things to note The house is on a well. Filtered water and ice are available from the refrigerator. At times there may be a slight smell from the hot water. Do not be alarmed as the water is very safe for use. We also have a whole-house filter on the water system. We provide a Keurig with an assortment of coffees , teas and hot chocolate along with creamers and sweeteners. A drip coffee maker is also provided along with filters (but no coffee). We provide a starter set of paper towels (2 rolls) and toilet paper (4 rolls) for each reservation. You can purchase additional supplies at several stores in Robbinsville as needed. There is no trash service in our remote location. Trash cannot be placed outside as it may attract wildlife. Guests can drop off trash at the Graham County trash drop located at 400 Snowbird Rd (on the way into Robbinsville) which is open 24/7. Use of the kayaks and paddle boards is at your own risk. We provide life jackets (required by law) and paddles. Please inspect the equipment before each use.
