The Surfer’s Annexe - Newquay, Cornwall

The Surfer’s Annexe is just a few mins walk to Newquays beaches; Towan, Fistral and the Harbour. Space: A self contained living area, hallway, bathroom and toilet, plus a light and airy double bedroom. It sleeps 4. (2 in the bed, and 2 on the sofa bed in the living area). Facilities: Access our place via the courtyard. You have use of a BBQ, fire pit and beach chairs. Bring your own surf boards and store them in the courtyard. Perfect for couples, families and surfers. The space Welcome: Welcome to Newquay. The Surfers Annexe is your private space which is attached to our main house. You have your own access, everything is self contained, but the back entrance outdoor space is a shared courtyard. (if you're bringing surfboards or outdoor beach gear, feel free to leave it here, and help yourself to logs for an evening fire pit for example). Context: Before we owned this place, it was previously listed on Airbnb for many years with great reviews (it was a big reason why we bought the place) - it's the perfect space for couples, families or surfers looking to enjoy the wonders of the Cornish coast. Location: You honestly can't ask for a better location. It's quite literally less than 3 minutes walk to Towan Beach and Newquay Harbour to the East, and about 5 minutes walk to Fistral beach in the West. Sainsbury's, chip shops, cafes, and restaurants are all either in front or behind the property, no more than 1 minute walk. Amazingly, despite the proximity, the only noise you’ll hear is the seagulls. Parking: You don’t have designated parking but there is plenty of street parking, and car parks. There’s not usually any problem parking. Importantly you can easily stop right outside the property to unload any luggage without rushing - there’s always a space because it’s an unmade road at the back of the house. (You enter through the gates in the back lane). Once unloaded you can find a spot for the car. The road at the front of the house will usually have a space or two. Your Space: Courtyard / Garden You enter the property through the rear gates. These gates lead to a courtyard garden (which is shared with us - for storing surf boards and beach gear). In the courtyard you'll see your front door (lock box combination code access for your door key). In the courtyard we have logs for the fire pit, tables and chairs for eating outside, plus a shed with various beach games and gear - surfboards, paddle boards etc. Just let us know if you'd like to use anything. If you'd like to bring your dog this is a good space for them to relax in the sun. It's contained so they can't get out. Living Room Once you have your key from the lockbox on the wall outside you enter through your private door to the living room. A large 4 seater corner sofa which turns into a pull out sofa bed, is on your right. To your left are 4 connected solid oak bifold doors. These doors are closed and locked permanently when we have guests to stay. This separates your private enclosed space with the rest of our house. We mention this simply to be as transparent as possible. Consider the doors as a permanent wall. In the living area you have a TV on the wall (wasn’t in the photos, but is now), kettle, mugs, glasses, a few books and games, along with some plants. Enjoy the space. Please note: there are no cooking facilities except a BBQ and kettle. Hallway The hallway is a simple narrow walkway with a half step into the bedroom. The bathroom is off to the right. The hallway is a good feature because it separates the bedroom, bathroom and the living area so the space can sleep 4 people (2 couples for example) without being too close to each other. Each room also has their own lockable door. Bathroom You have your own bathroom complete with bath, shower, rail above the shower for hanging wetsuits, towel rail, sink and toilet. It’s a good space with plenty of room. We will provide toiletries and basic supplies to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Bedroom The bedroom has a fixed double framed bed with crisp linen. 3 draw chest for clothes, 2 mirrors, a radiator, beach towel ladder, and a few extras to make you feel at home. Note- we have had a review mentioning a squeaky bed- this has now been replaced and with a brand new bed. Dogs / Pets: We love dogs so please feel free to bring yours with you. Please make sure you clean up any poop from the courtyard though. Although we allow and welcome dogs we do also share caution because we have our own dogs, and while they have no need to come into contact with each other they may bark at each other through our bifold doors (we do our best to avoid this). Similarly we will occasionally use the rear gate access to enter our property (a separate entrance to you). Our dog is incredibly friendly, so don’t worry about that. To confirm: Your space is private but we have shared access to the courtyard. Thank you Guest access You have your own access, everything is self contained, but the back entrance outdoor space is a shared courtyard. It's a lovely space in the sun. When we have guests we tend to leave you to it, however we may need to walk through to our own entrance from time to time. Arrival access: You enter the airbnb via 2 large back gates. These have a combination lock which you'll receive upon booking. Once in the main courtyard you'll see your private entrance door. A lockbox is obvious which holds your door key. Just arrive from 14:00, use the codes to gain access and enjoy your stay. When leaving, just lock up, and put the key back in the lockbox. Thank you Other things to note Reminder: As per the property details section. Your space is self contained and private to you. We live in the adjoining house which is separated via solid oak wooden bifolds. It's a lovely space. Beach Gear: We love the beach and have all the gear. If you'd like to borrow beach chairs, surfboards, fire pits, bbq's etc, just ask. We can't guarantee anything will be available (in case it's been broken for example), but if we have it, just ask. We really do hope you have the best stay.
