The owner and host live in the same historic 1925 building on the top floor. Wanting a cool place for our friends and family to stay we renovated the partial underground apartment in an industrial style in 2018 and turned it into an airbnb in 2023. Outfitted to be someplace the owners want to stay -- Loving vintage and the fun furniture from around High Point, you will see nods to both around the apartment. The oversized king bedroom features a Helix mattress and Plycraft chair, the living room hosts a TOV couch, a Natuzzi coffee table, and Phillips collection side table. If you want to bring the family or a friend there is a pull-down Murphy bed (queen) in the living room. The bathroom has 6 nozzles and a choice of rainfall or streaming shower head(s). The kitchen is outfitted with cooking gear to use on the KitchenAid architect series range, and then eat at the bar table situation by a unique cut-out under the sidewalk. The Coffee bar as an espresso machine (Nespresso original pods) and a pour-over option. You will also find coupons for the local downtown coffee shops which the owners frequent. There is ample street parking which is metered during the day from 8-5pm M-F, but free at night and on weekends. (the owners park on the street too). NOTE: This apartment is partially underground. It was constructed in 1922 before the historic Courthouse with full size (6 ft) windows. When the Courthouse was constructed they raised the street level and kept window wells for the large windows. In later years (we don't know when) they then put sidewalks over the window wells. When we renovated in 2018 we uncovered the bricked-up windows, restored light by adding historic glass block, and gave a view of the cool sidewalk walking over the space. This is truly a unique property that is fun to stay in. Guest access Guests have access to the entire 1400 square foot apartment. Other things to note There is no dedicated parking to this apartment. Street parking is ample and is metered from 8am-5pm M-F. Street Parking is free evenings and weekends. Garage/Deck parking is also available 2 blocks away.
