Description
There’s a moment every guest has. You hear the river before you see it, walk through the trees, catch the first view of the falls, and somehow the luggage can wait. In fall, the woods glow gold and amber, the air turns sharp, and before long you realize there’s no one around. Just you, the trees, and the river. The space The noise and the hurry didn’t follow you here. The river won’t let it. Perched above a bend in the Escanaba River, Kingfisher looks out over cascading water and ancient granite formations. Deer wade the shallows at dusk. Mergansers slip through the current like they own it. Eagles circle overhead. The river is always doing something. You don’t just stay at this place. You become part of it. Inside, the lodge is the counterpoint: clean, modern, intentional. Scandinavian sensibility. White walls step aside for the view, while wood and stone hint at the landscape without competing with what’s outside. Warm, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed — a cozy blanket of a space that makes the wilderness feel even wilder by contrast. Four bedrooms and 3.5 baths give groups real comfort, with three king beds, a queen, and additional singles. The great room, kitchen, and dining area flow together naturally whether you’re making a big breakfast, playing a board game, or simply watching the light change on the water. Downstairs, the mood shifts: full bar, nine-foot shuffleboard, big-screen TV, and Xbox. Outside, fall is where the place really shows off. The seven-person hot tub steams above the river. Two fire pits glow after dark. Mountain bikes wait by the door when the quiet country roads call. On clear nights, the Milky Way opens wide overhead, and the northern lights occasionally make an appearance. Binoculars sit on the windowsill because guests keep needing them.
