Step Back in Time in Manteo...The Manteo House, locally referred to as the Evans Family Homeplace, boasts a unique blend of original 1871 elements such as wooden flooring, doors, window frames, & transoms, complemented by custom Honduran mahogany in its extended wings. Upon entering the main foyer, visitors are greeted with a harmonious fusion of antique charm & modern flair, featuring marble flooring, imported mahogany baseboards & ceiling trim, & a prized mid-1800s tiger oak entryway hutch. The space Park in the spacious driveway. Walk up a few steps to the main entrance and a flight of stairs up to level two where your suite is located. This room is beautifully decorated, next to the Basnight/Hassell entrance, overlooking Shallowbag Bay and the Marshes Lighthouse. The morning views are exquisite! Furnishings in the room include a queen-sized mattress paired with an early 1900’s wood framed rice bed, a casual chair, a writers’ desk for work or letters to send home, a TV, a walk-in closet and an ensuite bathroom with a tub/ shower. Each of the three windows maintains the same view as they all face Southeast! Guest access You will have access to all areas of the Tillett Suite in addition to a neighboring lounge located on the second floor of The Manteo House as well and is shared by other guests. The lounge includes a couch, TV, Table, two chairs, games, Kcup machine and reading material. A perfect room to start/plan or end/reflect the day! *Kitchen is NOT available. The Parlor - located at ground level in the West Wing 1871 portion of the home - is a popular location to host artists, musicians, comedians etc. During your stay you may be able to take advantage and purchase tickets for such an event happening next door or at the very least walk a few more steps to The Pioneer Theater for a varied line-up of events and happenings!
