CENTRAL NORTH END LOCATION ❁ Casa Tranquila is located in the desirable North End, in a residential neighborhood at the foot of the Nanzal Hillsides. ❁ You won't need a golf cart here; the beach is a 5-minute walk, restaurants are 4 minutes, downtown is a 10-minute walk, and popular surf breaks are an 11-minute walk. ❁ Gentle, flat terrain characterizes this prime location. The walk to Casa Tranquila is flat until a medium sloping hill begins 150 meters before reaching the house; there are no steep hills to climb. ❁ It is free from the loud bars & clubs of Downtown and the South Side, yet maintains easy access to them. ❁ Whether it's a morning walk to the beach, an evening stroll into town, or a break for nearby coffee & brunch or yoga & massage, everything is comfortably within walking distance. CLEAN NORTH BEACH ❁ We are 5 minutes from a 1-km ribbon of clean and serene sand, with plenty of elbow-room, and the most stunning sunsets in Sayulita. ❁ While the North Beach can have a stronger shore-break, in terms of sand quality, cleanliness, and space, it is far superior to the main beach. Continue north for increasing privacy, silky sand, as well as sunset Sea-turtle hatchling releases every evening Oct–Dec. A memory‑maker for kids. Nighttime Noise: ❁ Nighttime noise at Casa Tranquila consists of birdlife rather than nightlife. Sayulita is a heavily canopied area that is brimming with a myriad of jungle birds that seem to compete for sound. Its ubiquitous roosters and chachalacas often call well before dawn (earplugs provided). ❁ Peak Holidays –New Year’s Eve & Carnaval– can bring nighttime festivities in the wider neighborhood (earplugs provided). Daytime Noise: ❁ Lying at the foot of the Nanzal hillsides along an access road, Casa Tranquila experiences periodic daytime traffic noise from local motorbikes and service vehicles required to maintain these upper-level properties. ❁ Traffic is intermittent. It is most frequent on work-day mornings, typically after 8 AM. Volume is most pronounced when hillside projects are active. ❁ While daily traffic fluctuates, evenings are consistently calm and peaceful, transitioning beautifully into sunset tranquility. ❁ The benefit of this location remains its perfect balance of walkability to the best of Sayulita while maintaining a protective distance from the all-night clubs of Centro & South Side––all in a spacious, private, lush environment. BEDROOMS ❁ There are three large bedrooms, all with AC, comfortable king-size beds, and bathroms. All beds are pillow-top which comprise a plush layer for extra comfort on a firm supportive mattress. ❁ The master bedroom is located on the second level (main floor) where the the kitchen, living area, and ocean-view terrace are located. It has a shared full bathroom across the hall. A set of French doors provides a walkout to the terrace and an outdoor living feel. ❁ The remaining two bedrooms are located on the first level (ground floor). Each has a full ensuite bathroom and a private entrance from the patio, yielding access to the pool and garden. ❁ If you are traveling with children, and would like to sleep more closely to them, a door connecting these two bedrooms can be unlocked and opened. ❁ One lower bedroom king bed can be split into two single beds. Lower bedroom configuration options: 2 kings by default, or 1 king + 2 twins upon request. ❁ These lower bedrooms are accessible via the patio doors, they are connected to the 2nd floor via exterior stairs. These spaces are designed for ease of access and privacy, separate from the main living areas on the second level. ❁ Foam portable mattress (twin) & bedding available (set-up fee $20/night). ❁ Two extra guests as children are welcome (15 & under, $40/night/child). Foam mattress & bedding included. KITCHEN & LIVING ❁ The kitchen is fully functional providing essential small appliances and plenty of utensils to accommodate cooking large meals for friends and family. The dishes are traditional Mexican dinnerware and the glassware is hand-blown. The interior décor of the house is unique, much of it designed and handmade locally. ❁ Air conditioning is available in the living area (2-ton AC unit) which is continuous with the kitchen. ❁ Open-concept options are available to the kitchen and living area via wide French doors that open out to the terrace. ❁ A 65-inch LG UHD 4K Smart TV (2024 model) will allow you to log in apps like Netflix, YouTube, Hulu (no cable/satellite). Bring an HDMI cable & your streaming device or use Screen Mirroring for less popular apps. ❁ Filtered water is available in 5-gallon dispensers located in the kitchen and in each of the downstairs bedrooms. TERRACE & ROOFTOP Privacy & Spacious common areas are defining features of Casa Tranquila. ❁ The oceanview terrace is truly expansive and provides outdoor living on the main floor. ❁ This covered outdoor area is cooled by ceiling fans, clothed in an array of potted plants and lit by traditional wrought iron ceiling lamps. ❁ Its many couches, chairs and hammocks invite relaxation. ❁ Several sets of French doors remove the boundary between the in & out-of-doors promoting flow with the main living area & kitchen. ❁ The walk home from the beach is relatively flat, yet the terrace is a beautiful perch that guarantees ocean-view sunsets every evening, and is a wonderful place to experience the magic of dawn in Sayulita. ❁The roof-top deck provides a bird's-eye perspective of Sayulita and has the most breathtaking sunset & ocean views. ❁ A pergola provides shade over a 6-person dining table & chairs. It is wonderful for morning coffee, evening cocktails, and panoramic sunset photos with family and friends. ❁The extensive floor is your morning yoga space, granting a 360° jungle and ocean-view frame for your sun salutation. POOL, PATIO, TROPICAL GARDEN ❁ The ground level comprises a patio, a large pool, a gas grill, and lavish tropical gardens of exotic trees and plants, like guava, starfruit, lychee, pomegranate, yuka, noni, passionflower, haliconias, red ginger, cactuses, and herbs. ❁ This diverse and prolific array of broad leaves and bright flowers have become a sanctuary to many types of birds– flocks of startling green parakeets and arboreal chachalacas among them. ❁ The pool has plenty of sun, while the outdoor areas provide plenty of cover for shade. ❁ An outdoor shower keeps salt and sand at bay. ❁ The splash-friendly entry is a wide shallow sun shelf, just a few inches deep. Adults can wade in gradually, and children can sit to kick and play. ❁ Gentle curves & free‑form shape feels like a natural lagoon and gives kids plenty of shallow edge to cling to. ❁ It deepens to mid-chest on an average-height person at the deep end, for proper swimming. ❁ For families with small children, it provides a sweet spot between shallow play and real swim space. ❁ The pool is directly below the covered terrace and several feet from patio shade–– relax in shade and still enjoy (and have eyes on) pool activity. ❁ All in a private, flowered garden just minutes from Sayulita’s clean North Beach. ❁ Please be aware the pool is not gated nor heated (temp is ambient). ARCHITECTURE A Sayulita original, Casa Tranquila embodies the charm & authenticity of Sayulita. The beauty of this Mexican style home is defined by its interior facade. The home's layout is designed around the pool & patio and is delineated by arcades and columns. Wrought iron trimmed windows & doors break up the large expanse of walls and lend a striking effect. Other architectural details include a Misson tile "teja" sloped roof & overhang that synchronizes with "cantera" stone trim ceilings. The many stucco columns are interspersed by a parade of potted broad leaf plants, ferns, flowers and succulents. The gem at the center of these details is the pool & lush gardens; the house is seemingly in service to them. SECURE PARKING The carport is gated for Secure Parking and includes a golf cart charging station. Nov - May: accessible by average cars. Jun - Oct: High ground clearance vehicles are recommended (access road can wash out). Please see note about parking during low season below. PRIVACY & SECURITY ❁ The entire villa is wholly private to you. ❁ Security is our high priority, and we have an impeccable security record. You and your belongings will be safe at Casa Tranquila. ❁ The house, pool & gardens are enclosed in high fortress-like walls extending along the property line, as is the tradition in colonial Mexican cities. ❁ This wall obscures the home from public view, creating a private and highly secured tropical retreat. ❁ This street facade is painted in a contrasting color from neighbors, contributing to the rainbow of colored streets that are characteristic of streets seen all over Mexico. It also helps guests find the home easily. ❁ Safes: Bolted hotel-style safes are available for each bedroom. PROPERTY MANAGEMENT & HOUSEKEEPING ❁ For over 15 years Casa Tranquila has had the same same property manager with the same cleaning staff (really wonderful girls - Cynthia and Mariana) and gardener (Alex). ❁ The property management team has a physical location at the Plaza with open hours daily. They are available at all times. ❁ Cleans are scheduled at intervals of approximately 3-4 days. ❁ Tips to the house staff (customary in Sayulita) can be placed in the provided envelopes to individual staff. In response to questions about tipping recommendations, our response is always to please do so from the heart. INTERNET Download: 53 Mbps. Upload: 19 Mbps. Latency: 77 ms. These speeds are uniform throughout the house, including poolside and the downstairs bedrooms. Guest access You will have exclusive access to the entire house and grounds. Amenities are private to you, none are shared. Only housekeeping & garden/ pool maintenance staff will have access to the property during your stay. Other things to note June 1 – October 31: Hot & Rainy Season. –– Parking Jun - Oct ⛈️ Low season brings heavy rains to Sayulita. This often washes out the unfinished road that accesses Casa Tranquila’s driveway and secured on-site parking. If you plan to rent a car during low season, you will want to rent a suburban, jeep, or 4-wheel drive to access the parking space. –– Power, water, and internet Jun - Oct⚡️Heat & thunder storms (spectacular to see) place a heavy burden on the Sayulita's tenuous infrastructure. While power outages are common in Sayulita anytime, summer storms cause more frequent power outages, water shortages, and internet connectivity issues. We have work-arounds, but just be aware of a degree of unpredictability during the hot and rainy season. –– Summer Heat Jul - Oct 🥵 Expect heat & humidity that feels like 100°F (minimal cooling o/n). This can limit the use of outdoor areas. The 150 meter medium-slope approach can feel strenuous. ❁ It's for these reasons that low season is discounted. Accessibility: 𓊍↗ Checkin Stairs: 12 steps from Carport Level to Main Floor. Step-free Main: bed, bath, kitchen, living, ocean-view terrace on one level. Pool Temperature: Pool temperature is ambiently controlled. Expect cooler water in Jan & Feb, and warmer water in Jul-Oct. Laundry: Access is limited, but Sayulita has a number of laundromats. Ask us, we can make a recommendation. Noise Policy: We expect our neighbors to respect our guests and their right to peaceful nights. Let's be respectful in return by keeping the party in Sayulita and the peace at Tranquila. No loud noise after 11 PM. Cancellations: Please be sure to review our cancellation policy. Michael is happy to rent his vacation home to you, but he cannot also insure your travel against unexpected trip cancellations. Travel is expensive and life is uncertain, we understand this, so we urge you to please consider protecting your travel investment. Value: We value your decision to spend your vacation time and your limited resources with us. We will be sure that you have the best possible experience and look forward to welcoming you.
