The Smakenatelier: tranquility & space in a monument

Welcome to the Taste Studio Experience our stylish 90 m² city loft with African flair, located in a national monument building in the heart of Buren. With the luxury of a hotel suite, the charm of a B&B, and the privacy of a private entrance, this is the ideal place for entrepreneur-retreats, culinary weekends or a relaxing midweek. Both business guests seeking peace and inspiration, and groups of up to 6 people who want to enjoy themselves, feel at home here. Children from 10 years of age are welcome. The space A characteristic building with a unique story. Slow down, pause and marvel. The history of this special monument begins about 500 years ago. Originally a residential house, later "Schoolhuys", post office, cafe and wagon factory. After a thorough restoration, the restaurant "Countess of Buren" was opened, which was even awarded a Michelin star. Now 'het Smakenatelier' is a place where gastronomic talent grows, where we work with local products and support a new generation of entrepreneurs. “Sleeping overlooking the most photographed little street of the Oranjestad” The city loft is located on the 1st and 2nd floor. The space is decorated with care and love, as much as possible with sustainable materials. The warm look of wood, natural tones and an atmospheric mix of old and new make this national monument special. During the week we welcome trainers, participants and entrepreneurs. On weekends, the city lodge is an oasis for nature lovers, peace seekers, culture lovers, romantics and bon vivants. Our stay is rented as both B&B and holiday apartment, with a minimum of two nights on weekends and three nights during holidays. You will always stay in the B&B exclusively: alone, as a couple or with the company of acquaintances. Burgundian enjoyment Start the day with a traditionally made breakfast, using local products as much as possible (€15.00 p.p.p.n). For special dinner experiences, we work together with Brasserie Poelzicht (Menu Experience) and Brewery de Betuwe (beer tasting with a 7-course dinner). Wine or music lovers can enjoy the Betuws Wine Estate or a piano concert in the vineyard. Want to take advantage of this? Just let us know up front with your reservation and we will arrange a place. The entrance hall Through a turning staircase you reach the entrance of the apartment on 1st and 2nd floors. Bedrooms: Three cozy bedrooms, each with their own charm. From a spacious room with extra long bed to a cozy attic room where you can crawl away. Amenities: 1. That Large room: Spacious, extra long double bed (2.10 m), seating area, music possibility 2. Die Uitkyk: View of the church, two single beds (to be joined to double bed) 3. Die Nest: Cozy attic room with authentic low door, double bed All beds have plush duvets, two pillows per person and are made upon arrival so you can relax right away. Shared space: A warm place to get together, relax or enjoy offline. You can read, play games or work here. The cozy seating area, dining table and selection of books and games ensure a fine balance between relaxation and productivity. For an extra taste boost, you can pick fresh herbs from our own herbal picking garden in front of the door. Amenities: * Coffee maker and kettle * 2-burner induction plate, combi-oven and fridge * Crockery for a simple dish or takeaway * Fresh herbs from our own picking garden Outside: Enjoy the tranquility on the chat bench overlooking the town's most photographed street. A perfect place for a cup of coffee, a good conversation or just take a look at people. The price Bed linen, towels and toiletries are included, and on arrival there is a selection of coffee capsules, tea and fresh herbs ready for you for the first day, so you can enjoy them right away. Please know that the price listed does not include tourist tax (€1.30 p.p.p.n.), to be paid on arrival The base rate applies to 4 people and 2 bedrooms. For 5 or 6 guests, the third bedroom will be made available. For 3 separate bedrooms for 3 people there is an extra charge; please contact for details or special offer. Guest access On the day of arrival, you can enter the accommodation from 4 pm. If you arrive earlier, we are probably still working or on the road, but feel free to put your car in the parking lot in front of the door for a first introduction to the Oranjestad Buren. You can park for free right at the entrance and store your bikes safely, with a charging point for electric bikes. Coming by public transport? From NS Station Tiel or Culemborg take line 46 and get off at “Plantsoen” bus stop, after which it is only a 5 minute walk. Other things to note The city loft is located in a quiet area, you can occasionally hear the carillon of Museum Buren & Oranje or the bells of the church tower. You will stay in a beautiful national monument with an authentic beamed ceiling and doors. This adds to the charm, although it is sometimes pay attention to tall guests (>2.10 meters). Due to the spiral staircase to the first floor, the city loft is less suitable for people who have difficulty walking or for young children (<10 years). Pets Although we love animals, we have chosen not to allow pets in our accommodation, with the exception of assistance dogs. Check-out On the day of departure, we will not chase you up. So feel free to take your time for the delicious breakfast. If we can have the city loft available again around 11 o'clock, the reception of the next guests will not be compromised. Would you prefer a late check-out (after 12pm), please let us know in a timely manner. Then we'll see what's possible. We appreciate when the property is swept clean upon departure. That means everything is back in place. The rubbish is in one bin bag, the fridge is empty, the dishes are done and the laundry is on the coat rack.
