Welcome to the Smakenatelier Stay exclusively in a historic 90 m² city loft in the heart of Buren. The loft is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors and, with 3 bedrooms, can accommodate 1 to 6 guests (children aged 12 and over). A boutique B&B where historic charm, modern comfort and personal attention come together. Generations have left their mark here. GOOD TO KNOW The base rate is based on four people and the use of two bedrooms. • For five or six guests, we automatically prepare the third bedroom as well. • Are you staying with three or four people and do you want three separate bedrooms? Let us know in advance; for an additional fee, we will also prepare the third bedroom. • Are you staying with one or two people, and is one bedroom sufficient? Please contact us in advance for an adjusted rate. BEING TOGETHER The common area forms the heart of the loft. Here you can sit down for a full breakfast, work on new plans, play a game or enjoy a good conversation. With a comfortable seating area, a large table for six people, books and games, there is plenty of space to spend time together. SLEEPING Each bedroom has its own character: 👉 Die Grootkamer: a spacious room with an extra-long bed (2.10 m), sitting area and music option. 👉 Die Uitkyk: view of the Sint Lambertuskerk with beds that can be made up together or separately. 👉 Die Nest: a cozy attic room with a warm, intimate atmosphere. Your bed is made with soft linens and comfortable pillows, so you can immediately enjoy a relaxing stay. COOKING & ENJOYING In the kitchenette, you can prepare a simple meal, make a fresh cup of coffee or make plans for dinner at one of our favorite spots in the Betuwe. Available: ☕ Coffee maker (Nespresso) and kettle. 🍳 2-burner induction plate and combi oven. 🥗 Refrigerator, crockery and basic kitchenware. Upon arrival, coffee, tea and (fresh) herbs are waiting for you. OUTSIDE Start the day on the chat bench overlooking Buren's most photographed street, or end the day with a good conversation as the city slowly winds down. BOURGOGNE-STYLE INDULGENCE Start the day with a traditional breakfast full of local products and homemade delicacies (€15 per person per night), served the moment you wake up. We are also happy to share our favorite restaurants, wineries and culinary addresses in the area. EXPERIENCE THE BETUWE From Buren, you can discover the Betuwe your way: hiking, biking, boating, swimming or stand-up paddleboarding along rivers, orchards and historic villages. On weekends, the city loft is a nice base for couples, families and friends who want to enjoy the Betuwe together. HET SMAKENATELIER The Smakenatelier is more than a place to stay. It is a place where people, talents and stories come together. We regularly host development days, dinners, tastings, pop-up events and trial periods here. For almost five centuries, people have been gathering here to live, learn, do business and meet each other. Each generation has added something to this special place. Today, that energy lives on in the Smakenatelier. In the hospitality area on the ground floor, entrepreneurs, owners and teams are given the space to bring their ideas to life. In the city loft upstairs, you will find peace, comfort, and inspiration. During your stay, you will become part of this story. The treat that awaits you upon arrival is often made by a talent from our network. For breakfast, we work as much as possible with local producers and makers from the Betuwe. This way, you not only taste the flavors of the region, but also the story of the people behind them. This focus on people, place, and the environment is also reflected in the way we handle energy, water, and raw materials. We would appreciate it if you could contribute to this during your stay. Let us know in advance, and we will make sure everything is ready for a warm welcome and will be happy to meet you later. Accessibility and parking: You can park for free in the immediate vicinity of the Smakenatelier. For bicycles, there is a locked storage with a charging point for e-bikes. Are you traveling by public transport? The bus stop is a 5-minute walk. Other things to note • You will stay in a quiet area. Occasionally you hear the carillon of Museum Buren & Oranje or the bells of the Sint Lambertuskerk, a charming reminder of the city's historical character. • The city loft is located in a national monument with authentic beams, doors and height differences that contribute to the atmosphere and character of the place. • You can reach the 2nd floor via a characteristic spiral staircase. This makes the loft especially suitable for guests who can walk well and for children from 10 years old. Pets Service dogs are warmly welcome. Checkout On the day of departure, you don't have to rush. Enjoy your breakfast, a cup of coffee or the view over the historic city center for a little while longer. We ask that you make the loft available around 11 AM so that we can carefully prepare everything for the next guests. A late check-out is possible on request.
