Our home is an original Cornish granite cottage with a modern timber frame, larch-clad extension built in 2017. I have been a carpenter for 20 years so most of the features in Fir Cottage have been lovingly hand crafted by myself. Centrally located next to the village pub, with far reaching views across the beautiful Kennall Valley. World class beaches on the North and South coasts are within half an hours drive and a bus ride will get you to Falmouth, Truro and Redruth. Relax and enjoy! The space Fir Cottage is semi-detatched with a colourful rope gate as the entrance off the road. The path will take you round to the front door and the front and side garden where there is a wooden swing frame and picnic table. Timber decking and steps lead to the rear garden lawn and fish pond. The fish pond is one metre deep in the centre and has no fence surrounding it, so very young children must be supervised when playing around here. Recycling is separated and stored under a hatch in the deck at the rear and the compost and rubbish bins are at the side of the house. You enter first into the glass walled porch, with doors front and back, which leads onto the kitchen/dining room and the downstairs bathroom. The middle reception room has a piano, a work desk and a wall of board games, toys and books for you to enjoy. From here you come to the living room with two sofas seating 5 and a couple of single seats. In here you will find more books, a smart TV and Playstation, a fireplace with woodburner and a beautifully planted fish tank which lights the room in the darker hours. The ground floor rooms have a step from one to the other as the property is on a hill. The stairs lead up from the living room to a landing that joins the old with the new. From here you will find a shower room with toilet and all four bedrooms. The old parts of the house have very low ceiling beams so please mind your heads. Bedrooms 1 and 2 have king size beds, dual aspect windows and chests of drawers and a clothes rail for storing your clothes. Bedrooms 3 and 4 are single bedrooms, great for the kids with more toys and books. There is an extra hanging rail and chest of drawers at the end of the landing shared by the two single bedrooms. Guest access You will have access to the entire property and gardens except the wooden studio and shed in the back garden which will be locked. There is on street parking for two vehicles but the spaces are not always in the same place. The multi-level nature of our home makes it unsuitable for guests who use a wheelchair. Other things to note We are a household of cat lovers. Every effort has gone into keeping the house clean and dust free. However, I cannot guarantee that all cat allergens have been removed from the house so if you are sensitive to this our house might not be the place for you. If you have a well behaved dog you are welcome to bring them with you as long as you are happy to keep them out of the bedrooms and off the sofas and make sure you clean up after them in the garden. Our cats don't mix happily with dogs so they will be gone if you do bring your pet. Our cats will be on their own holidays while you stay in our house. However, if you too love cats and would like to have a couple of our furry friends around and are happy to love and feed them for us we can keep them at home and discuss a small discount to your rental fee.
