Description

This charming older home is close to everything you need! It's less than a 15 minute drive from the Salt Lake International Airport, plenty of shopping and restaurants, and roughly 20 minutes to downtown Salt Lake City and to the base of mountains. The bedroom comes with a queen sized dense foam mattress, a 50 inch TV with a Roku stick, dresser, a dedicated workstation, and high-speed wifi (1 gigabit fiber). Shared kitchen, bathroom, laundry, living room, and backyard with hot tub. The space The house is a split-level, each floor having 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, and a living room - the shared kitchen is upstairs, and the shared laundry room is downstairs. The guest room is in the upstairs, and my bedroom is right next to it. A couple lives in the basement, my good friends Bob and Lia. The guest room comes with a queen sized bed with dense foam mattress that’s medium firm, with extra blankets. There is a ceiling fan, and pretty decent sized windows that can be opened. The blinds do a great job of blocking out the light. There is a 50 inch TV with a Roku stick and a couple streaming options on there, as well as a dresser, night stand, a couple of small lamps, and a sound machine. The dedicated workstation comes with a desk, chair, monitor, keyboard, HDMI cable, and surge protector - if you need more cables we probably have them. The 1 gigabit fiber makes the wifi quite fast. The upstairs bathroom has a shower/bathtub, shower essentials, a hair dryer, first aid kit, extra towels in the closet just outside of it, and storage available for your bathroom items. It also has a hose-style bidet, a squatty potty, and poo-pourri - if you know you know! More specifically for shower products, I have Kirkland Professional Salon Formula Moisture shampoo and conditioner, Kirkland body wash (moisturizing, citrus scent), and Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for face wash. The kitchen is shared with me and my downstairs roommates, and you’re welcome to use my appliances and items. Beyond normal dishes, silverware, and basic cooking supplies like pots/pans/etc. that also includes use of: microwave, toaster oven, Vitamix blender, vintage stove and oven, electric kettle, french press, immersion blender, electric griddle, food processor, and Instapot. I have coffee and tea available, and guests have a dedicated shelf in the fridge! The backyard is pretty decent-sized, with a hot tub, fire pit and chairs, garden, as well as a small 2-person table. I also have a hammock that can be setup between two trees upon request. The laundry room is unfinished (more on that below), the washer and dryer are fairly large and new. You can use our laundry detergent and wool dryer balls, as well as a little drying rack inside, and a retractable clothesline in the backyard. There is free parking on the street in front of my house. To be noted, this is an older house that I fairly recently moved into, and there are some quirks that you may want to be aware of to ensure the space will be a good fit. Examples: - Hilariously loud fans in the kitchen and upstairs bathroom, squeaky floor/stairs in a couple spots, and a portable dishwasher - Currently the living room in the basement has a curtain to kind of block it off, so you may hear the downstairs roommates Bob and Lia down there (planning on adding a door) - In the bathroom shower it isn’t as obvious how far you need to go to turn the hot water off - In the unfinished laundry room, you can see some of the plumbing/electrical where there will one day be finished ceiling and walls, and I recently found that when the A/C runs there’s a little water that accumulates over a less functional floor drain Driving time to various points of interest, depending on traffic: - SLC Airport: 12-15 min - Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater (fka USANA): 8 min - Temple Square: 23 min - Clarke Planetarium: 20 min - International Peace Gardens: 19 min - Snowbird Ski Resort: 40 min - Brighton Resort: 44 min - Park City Mountain: 44 min - Antelope Island State Park: 1 hour - Capitol Reef National Park: 3h 30 min - Arches National Park (Moab): 3h 45 min - Canyonlands National Park (Moab): 4 hours - Zion National Park: 4 hours - Bryce Canyon National Park: 4h 15 min Guest access Guests will have access to their private guest room with a lock, as well as shared spaces: kitchen, upstairs living / dining room, upstairs bathroom, laundry room, and backyard with hot tub and such. You will have a dedicated shelf in the fridge. During your stay I will be available to answer questions through the app or via text, as well as in person part of the time. M-F during normal work hours I will have limited availability, but can usually still respond within an hour or two. If it’s really urgent please call me! I have hosted with other platforms in the past, and I enjoy occasionally socializing with my guests (in passing + potentially activities or meals if it works out) as well as providing activity recommendations, etc. but I totally understand if you'd rather mostly keep to yourself! My roommates and I are all friendly but we will play it by ear, following your lead! Other things to note We want all of our guests and inhabitants to be safe and comfortable, and have privacy to the extent that we can, given the shared space! I would very much welcome any suggestions to make your stay better. This space is not suitable for pets, children, or infants, only 1-2 adults. My preference is toward guests with reviews from previous hosts. I do have some very basic hiking equipment you’re welcome to use (e.g. trekking poles, small backpack, etc.), and if I don't have what you need, we can give you recommendations in terms of where to rent or buy it. I met my roommates back when we were wilderness guides, and one of us still is, so if you have outdoor-related questions please feel free to ask us! I'm not opposed to potentially longer stays of more than 7 days, though to ensure it's a good fit, I'd want to do a trial run and have more in-depth conversations about expectations, etc.
