Description

Situated in Tregony - gateway to the Roseland Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stunning beaches and coastal walks, ice creams, pasties, Cornish pubs, fine dining, & sailing, are on all your doorstep! Portscatho, The Hidden Hut, St Mawes, Eden Project, Heligan Gardens, Newquay & the north coast are also in easy reach. With fantastic sunset views from our lovely dining terrace, pretty cottage gardens, & bags of Cornish character - we hope you love Granary Cottage as much as we do! The space Estimated to be around 200 years old, Granary Cottage is a charming quirky historic property with bags of character! Accommodation is arranged over three floors, with a large master bedroom on the first floor, as well as the two upper loft rooms - which have a lovely bright coastal feel, with sloping ship lap ceilings and beams, as shown in the pictures. Our lovely outside space is a real asset to the property. Our sunny terrace is perfect for eating al fresco from breakfast through to dinner - when you will be treated with lovely sunset views on summer evenings (weather permitting!) There are also three additional garden areas, featuring olive trees, roses, and ginger lilies, and there is a wonderful mix of sunny and shaded areas to sit and enjoy. Our sunken garden at the back of the house is a real sun trap and offers private seclusion for relaxing on sun loungers for those lazy days when you want to stay home and chill. We also have a large gravel-cobbles area, with a big feature fire pit, which also doubles as a fantastic barbecue. At night the garden is lit with fairy lights and festoon lights, making it a magical place to enjoy the warm evenings even after dark. The property is situated on the main street at the lower end the of the historic village of Tregony. There may be traffic and tractors passing - as this is a farming landscape. We sometimes get horses too! The back terrace overlooks the upper reaches of the River Fal and its flood plain, and woods beyond. We have lots of wonderful bird life, resident buzzards and many small birds -including gold finches and chaffinches. We have regular sightings of wild geese which follow the river, and have occasionally seen siskins, barn owls, and red kites. Guest access PARKING We have off-road parking for two normal size cars, and there is usually additional parking on the street nearby, or in the car park by the river - around 200m away, at the bottom of the hill. BUSES: We have great access to the local bus route - with the No 50 stop about just down from the house - almost next to our parking space (it's a flag down/request stop). The No 50 bus goes to Truro & all around the Roseland Peninsula, including Portscatho & St Mawes, and a stop a very pretty 10 mins country lanes walk from Pendower Beach. TRAINS: You can also get the bus to & from Truro Railway Station - either direct, or by changing in Truro. Journey time is around 45 mins. St Austell Railway Station is the other option. N.b. In both cases please do check timings in advance, as buses aren't as frequent as in cities - so you may need to be a bit strategic, or plan to grab a cuppa at the station! :) ***MOBILITY & ACCESS*** Please note that Granary Cottage is unfortunately unlikely to be suitable for guests with mobility issues due to features relating to its historic nature. We have steep steps inside the property, and in the garden - which is on multiple levels. Please refer to the pictures, and also feel free to get in touch should you have any queries on this issue. Should anyone in the party have mobility issues please be sure to get in touch before booking. Other things to note MOBILITY & ACCESSIBILITY Due to the inherent characteristics of this historic property, we feel that unfortunately Granary Cottage is unlikely to be suitable for those with mobility issues, and we would advise against booking without specifically checking any needs with us first. Please refer to the 'Guest Access' section for further details, and get in touch if you would like to check anything with us. We are including this information with our guests' interests at heart, as we would hate for anyone to be disappointed with their stay. Unfortunately if guests book our property without taking note of this advice and subsequently feel the property does not suite their needs we will not be able to offer any booking amendments or refunds on the basis of accessibility or mobility problems. Our standard cancellation policy in other regards will of course be unaffected, and apply as usual.
