Description

This is our happy place! This isn't a sprawling waterfront cottage in the Muskokas or a luxury cabin in Bruce Peninsula. If that's what you want, I'm sorry but our wee cottage isn't for you! We come here to shake off the stress of life, show our kids the constellations and roast wieners over the fire pit. This cottage is cozy (yeah small) so we're forced to be close to each other. Cell reception is bad, so we have to talk to each other (yeah yeah there's wifi but that's needed). The space You've probably perused several listings by now so I'll skip the elaborate soliloquy of beauty. This cottage is cute, not overly elaborate and reminiscent of the cottages of old. Yes we have luxuries like AC, a hot tub and a dishwasher but if you are looking for a game room, golf simulator and indoor pool, we are not the place for you. Our guests choose to stay here to enjoy Smelser's Cove beach on Lake Erie, which you can access by walking 1 minute down the path next to our retreat. We are not directly on the water (sorry we couldn't afford the waterfront one down the road, we tried) but the beach does not disappoint. We are not secluded (heaps of acres this close to the GTA costs the world!) so there are neighbours fairly close by. There is nothing that stresses me out more than getting a call in the middle of the night from my neighbour, blistering my ears about loud guests so please, keep the hollering to a dull roar, especially late at night. Now for the specifics! We chose comfort over quirky and stylish when furnishing our cottage so our sofas will swallow you in a plush hug and our hybrid beds will lull you to sleep in a warm embrace (trying to say they are mad comfortable in a cool way). You will not be disappointed!! There's a full 4 piece bathroom, sofa bed and a large country style kitchen table with 5 chairs and 1 bench. This cottage also has 2 kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards and a pedal boat for guest use! We also welcome your fur baby 🐕 ($100 pet fee applies), as long as you clean up after them. NB: Erie Shores Retreat uses a cistern for water and a septic system for waste management. In order to ensure safe drinking water, we have installed an Ultraviolet (UV) water filtration system. Please be cautious with water consumption in order to ensure water preservation. Please only flush waste and toilet paper. Feminine hygiene disposal bags are provided for guest use. Guest access This cottage is all Yours to Discover and Open for Business, just like Ontario (see what I did there? Referencing our license plates!!). No sharing! Other things to note Ring cameras on the OUTSIDE of the house. HOT TUB RULES: For your safety and enjoyment as well as our peace and sanity, please make sure to: - Not jump or dive into the hot tub (actually happened!). - Not have any food, glass, soaps, oils or bodily fluid in the hot tub. - Supervise children around the hot tub. - Replace hot tub cover after each use and not sit on hot tub cover (use cover lifter, please don't drag the expensive cover right off!). - Turn off jets and lights after use. And most important of all…relax, decompress and enjoy your stay!
