The spring wildflowers have arrived under the stately red gums at Saplings Lodge. Close to the city, beaches and wineries by rail and bus (20 min) or a pretty stroll to Belair NP. Kick back in our sprawling mid-century gem, lovingly restored its hip charm. Luxuriate with a cuppa on leather couches amongst curated art and furniture or escape to nature in our huge re-wilded gardens loved by chattery birds, snoozy koalas and a grass munching roo. Or is it time for a roaring fire under the stars?! The space Location Saplings Lodge is located in the foothills of Adelaide providing an excellent base for touring, hiking or biking in the Adelaide hills. The home is easily accessible to beaches (15 mins) and the wine regions of McLaren Vale (30 mins), Langhorne Creek (50 mins) and Adelaide hills. (15 mins). Clare (2 hours), the Barossa Valley (1 hour 10) are must do day trips. Public transport to the City for the footy and Mad March is a breeze with a short walk to both the bus stop and train stations. Flinders University and Flinders Medical centre (10 mins) are a quick drive for students, patients and medical staff. Rewilded garden. Six Sapling Gums are the namesake of this lovely home and provide for the future environment of our local wildlife. We have extensively amended the soil and replanted local species suited to local wildlife. It sits opposite winter Minno Creek and is in a remnant forest area of River Red Gums. The oldest of the lot is a 200+ year old gum which stands sentry in the front yard. What a beauty! The huge backyard has a lovely kidney shaped lawn and a fire pit perfect for luxurious winter! Feed the birds and they will keep you entertained. If you’re lucky, you may spy a visit from a koala or kangaroo (unfortunately they don’t like dogs!) (Ask us about our wood kit for sale to our guests for $50 or BYO wood. 🪵 ) The home A mid century peach brick home, fully renovated in earthy, mid-century vibes. Ample off street parking for three vehicles with a double driveway and additional car park perfect for a camper trailer, caravan or third car. Recently styled with stunning Indigenous and Australian art, vintage and modern furniture it features preserved mid-century architectural timber features throughout. Picture windows showcase our recently re-wilded native gardens. Kitchen/dining Entertaining is a cinch in a fully stocked, fully renovated sage green kitchen with breakfast bar and brand new appliances. A vintage Art Deco crockery set and stunning marble table for eight complete the stage for your delicious family dinners. Lounge room A huge games/TV room with large french leather Arthur G couches is the perfect family memory making spot. Toys, games and books for all ages, garden views for watching squabbling lorikeets in the birdbath or a spot of Netflix. Your pick. Or convert it into a home office with oversized 60’s desk by closing off seeded glass doors. Bedrooms Each set up with quiet comfort with quality percale linen, form and soft pillows and pure wool blankets. Wake up to glorious garden views and art filled walls with your morning coffee. A comfy fold out iron double bed is perfect for spill over guests and there is plenty of room for a cot or two in the Master. Bathroom You will love the brand new huge bathroom (and half bathroom) with over sized shower, heated flooring and towel racks and edgy 3D tiles. Indulge in some ‘me’ time in the deep free standing bath with eco-friendly Wallawa lotions. A modern laundry delivers all the practicalities of home life. Guest access Entire House Other things to note Fire pit: fire ban restrictions apply from November to April each year and include the use of fire pits. Outside of this time we provide fire pit kits of 50kg good burning hardwood, fire lighters, matches and some sneaky marshmallows for $50. Please ask us to deliver before your stay so we can set it all up for you. Alternately you can bring your own but no accelerants please. Aircon: we have a huge reverse ducted system that should only be used on medium. The touch pad is next to the kitchen. Koalas and wildlife: the lodge is in a sensitive ecosystem which can be visited by koalas, native lizards and birds. Dogs must be monitored to ensure the that native wildlife in the yard are left in peace and protected.
