Description

Nestled in the Helderberg Hills, just north of the Catskills, our Cotton Hill campsite is perfect for fishing, swimming, creek walks, fossil hunting, and stargazing. Enjoy mountain views, peaceful trails, and easy access to breweries, wineries, farmers markets, and historic sites. The site includes a queen bed, camp toilet, firewood, potable water, and basic cooking gear. A cozy escape to nature with everything you need to relax and recharge. The space Our spacious canvas safari tent comfortably sleeps two adults in a cozy queen bed, with extra room on either side for sleeping mats if needed. Depending on the size and needs of your group, you may wish to bring additional tent(s) for extra sleeping space. The site features a private camp toilet with a dedicated privacy shelter for your convenience. We provide a supply of firewood for your stay, as well as a firepit with a cooking grill. The camp kitchen is stocked with basic utensils and cookware, making meal prep simple and enjoyable. You'll also receive 5 gallons of potable water for your use. → Important items to pack * Hiking boots or trail sneakers * Swimwear (weather permitting) * Water shoes (weather permitting) * Beach towels (weather permitting) * Warm layers for the evening * Hat or visor * Insect repellent * Sunscreen * Phone charger + power bank * Ice, food & drinks * Charcoal & lighting agent Guest access There are 21 acres for you to discover with 10 acres in front, and 11 acres of woods with a meandering creek as the border. You can think of this land as your land for the duration of your stay. Respect the land and tent as you would your own. Squish your toes into the earth and breathe in the wild thyme-filled grassy trails. Go for a walk in the woods. Take a deep breath. Relax & recharge! The pebble beach at the pond allows for a gradual entry and goes to 16 feet deep in the middle. Feel free to swim on out to the floating dock. We love jumping in. There are many fish in the pond, most of them are large mouth bass. You may use our canoe, but please wear a life jacket if you are not a confident swimmer. (*Swimming is at your own risk!) The ‘Fossil Creek Trail’ leads down through the woods from the pond area to the slate bed creek. (*Please watch your footing on the trail- some is quite uneven.) There are many amazing fossils to find if you look in the creek bed during the dry season. The woods are cooler and bug free, perfect for siting and relaxing with a book or picnic. There are several trails that wind around the pond and then back up to the Tent. Other things to note We do allow pets (please communicate this) and we ask that our guests do not let animals on the bed and to clean up after pet appropriately. Campaway Toilet: This baby is elegant in its simplicity. Don’t worry. Way less ick factor than you’re thinking. The bags were designed by NASA for the space program. They have a secret powder inside that gels around waste and immediately blocks odors. When the bag is getting full, tie it off and throw it in the trash barrel. Landfill safe!
