The East Wing at Achandunie House is a self contained two storey wing of an attractive Victorian stone built country house, with its own access and private parking. The peaceful rural location features lovely views and walks and is close to local amenities. The property has three bedrooms, a sofa bed, a spacious living room, a recently renovated bathroom and kitchen and a utility room. The space Achandunie House is a Victorian stone built country house built around 1850 by the owners of Ardross Castle, now famous as the set of the television series The Traitors, which is located a couple of miles up the road. The House was subsequently owned by the Perrins family (of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce) and was occupied by the Norwegian armed forces during the Second World War. King Haakon was a regular visitor. The House is located conveniently for many local attractions and is approximately equidistant from the world famous golf courses of Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Castle Stuart, which are all within around 40 minutes drive. Achandunie House is accessed by its own private drive off the public road. The East Wing is located at the rear of the house. There is ample parking. The East Wing has its own private entrance. A spacious front hall offers space for coats, boots and other clobber. There is a small bedroom with a single bed behind the front hall. The main living room is entered through the front hall. This features a large dining table, a sofa bed and two large armchairs. A wood burning stove is in the main fireplace, for which the Host supplies firewood and kindling. There is a modern television with Freeview channels and an integrated DVD player. A large cupboard contains books and games. The sofa bed best suits a single adult or two children. The recently renovated kitchen is accessed immediately off the living room and features a new hob, oven and dishwasher. The kitchen includes other normal appliances such as a fridge, kettle and toaster, as well as a full set of cutlery and crockery. The utility and storage room and bathroom are accessed through a hallway off the living room. The utility room contains a clothes washing machine, an ironing board, an iron, a cot, a children's fire guard and a child's chair. At the end of the hall there is a recently renovated and redecorated bathroom, with a modern electric walk in shower. The first floor of the East Wing is accessed by stairs through the hallway off the living room. The first bedroom on the left features a single bed and basin as well as built in storage. The main bedroom at the end of the first floor hallway features a double bed, basin and built in storage. All the bedrooms of the East Wing contain a modern electric radiator, as do the living room, bathroom and hallway. Guest access The East Wing is a separate and self contained annex of Achandunie House and is only open to Guests. The rest of the House is not open to Guests. Most of the grounds of Achandunie House are open to Guests, including the woodland strip and path beside the House, the Washing Green area behind the House and the large paddock at the top of the drive. The main garden in front of Achandunie House is, however, private. Other things to note Guests may bring one small or medium sized dog to the East Wing but should provide their own dog bed. They should clear the East Wing of dog hair before they leave, for which a vacuum cleaner is provided, and pick up and dispose of any dog poo in the grounds of Achandunie House. Failure to comply with these requests may result in additional cleaning charges. Please also note that while we endeavour to ensure that Wi Fi is always available to guests, outages may occasionally occur which are beyond our control.
