Perched high above a 1933 ice cream shoppe, this unique 1870 icon is a cozy getaway spot inviting you to just take it easy & relax. Yes - complimentary pints of homemade ice cream are included for our guests in their freezer! If you love a rustic river view, somewhat eclectic furniture & an electric fireplace (TV to arrive by June 1st/New Listing) River View is a quick hop to Bangor 25 mins, Orono UofM 14 mins, Old Town 5 mins or Bar Harbor 90 mins yet tranquil. Historic yet modern & updated. The space River View faces the Penobscot River, above a 1933 iconic ice cream shoppe, where ice cream was first produced by a mercantile's wife in 1925 & where we still make homemade ice cream in over 100 flavors today. Outside during our season (May to Sept) there are picnic tables to enjoy, trails along the river which is known to reveal old bottles or other treasures. Back in the day there was an old bottle dump off to the back left portion of the property, towards the river. Guest access The entire River View space is for the guest. Guests may also utilize our picnic tables or walk along the Penobscot River trails. Other things to note This space is located on the 2nd floor, above a seasonal 1933 ice cream shoppe. A washer/dryer belonging to the store is available should a guest desire a longer stay.
