Our second home is a mix of mid-century modern and "cabin in the woods." It sits on 2 heavily wooded acres and backs up to a mountainside with rock outcroppings. The main living area (living room, dining area, and kitchen) is raised about 4 steps, and the bedroom and bath areas are on the main level. There is one large bathroom with a shower. There is an electric fireplace surrounded by ledge stone in front of the u-shaped built-in sofa. There is abundant reading material & 2 TV's. Located just 6 miles from Huntsville in the Hampton Cove area, this totally updated modern cedar cabin offers 2 bedrooms, 1 large bath with shower, plenty of closet space, and covered parking for 2 cars. The home sits on over 2 acres of woods, providing serenity and privacy and lovely views from expansive windows. It feels as if you're in a mountain retreat, yet it's only 1 mile from Publix, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, and only 2 miles from the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. It is 10 miles from Huntsville's Medical District. The home is fully furnished and has a king-sized and a queen bed. Full washer & dryer, cleaning supplies, iron & ironing board, TV w/cable, grill, towels, cooking and eating utensils---the works! A lovely nature trail is less than a mile away. The entire space is accessible to guests; detached shed can be accessed with permission. Home is located on a private, 2-acre lot, so it seems as though you're in a mountain retreat, but you're within 1 mile of a super-WalMart, Walgreen's, Publix Supermarket, and several eating establishments. Furthermore, 6 miles away is a large shopping complex with Super Target, PetSmart, Barnes & Noble, Kohl's, Marshall's, Ross, Kirkland's Home, Hobby Lobby, etc. There are also many choices for meal, from franchise restaurants like Red Robin, Five Guys, Zaxby's, and Longhorn's to local fare from Mezza Luna and Another Broken Egg. There are 3 steps from the carport to the house and another 3 steps from the entrance to the kitchen/sitting room area, a situation for persons with walking problems to be aware of. Otherwise, there is ample sitting area on the main level in the "pit," and the bedrooms and bathroom are on the entrance level. A queen air mattress can be set up if host is notified prior to arrival for an additional $20 per night.
