This sun filled 3.5 bed/3 bath home boasts a large open plan chef's kitchen, 18 foot vaulted ceilings, a piano, wood burning fireplace, outdoor fire-pit, indoor sauna and a soaking tub. Stony Hill Haus blends historic charm with modern luxury, and offers all the amenities for an idyllic countryside retreat for families or groups of friends. The space Stony Hill Haus is located in the story book town of Pine Plains, 2 hours north of NYC. THE HOUSE The interiors of Stony Hill Haus mix antique and designer furnishings throughout, with linen bed sheets, a large freestanding soaking tub for two, and a Swedish Cedar sauna. There are three thoughtfully designed guest suites, each with its own renovated bathroom, plus an extra loft bedroom. The home is equipped with brand new SMEG, LG and Bosch appliances. Downstairs, the living room is spacious and comfy with 17 foot high ceilings, exposed beams and plenty of places to sit and relax whether in front of the fireplace, to watch TV - or play the piano. The large open plan chef’s kitchen is the perfect place to prepare home cooked meals around the farm style island and to host memorable gatherings with friends and family. The kitchen is fully equipped with all essential cooking equipment including a stocked coffee bar and pantry, cast iron pans, kitchenaid mixer and all the usual spices and condiments. The kitchen opens to the dining room with designer table and chairs and Soho Home dinnerware for 8 guests. There is a second cozy sitting area and sunroom that is connected to the kitchen, a great place to play cards or board games provided. On the ground floor are two spacious bedrooms. The first with two twin beds (can be turned into a king upon request), provides a spa-like experience with its own private sauna and shower, plus direct access to a half-bath across the hall. The other bedroom (the blue room) has a queen size bed and private ensuite bathroom. Upstairs you will find an extremely spacious main bedroom suite with vaulted ceilings and a king size bed, a sunroom that’s perfect for morning yoga or to sit and enjoy a book on the chaise lounge, and a light-filled ensuite bathroom with a huge free standing soaking tub and forest views. Connected to the main bedroom is a mezzanine that overlooks the dining room, which has a comfy daybed that can pull out to be a queen size bed to sleep up to two additional guests. Please note this room is only accessible through the main bedroom and therefore not private. A 2nd upstairs loft overlooks the living room and provides a home-office setup with a work desk, chair and wifi. The main entrance is through the mudroom, which provides a bench area to remove and store your coats and shoes, and opens to a large laundry room equipped with a brand new LG washer and dryer, folding station, and a half bath. OUTDOORS Savor the surrounding natural beauty the property's vast 17 acres of gardens, woodlands, and a pond. The garden is truly magical with over 4,000 bulbs planted and seasonal perennials for flowers year-round , and an abundance of giant old maple and birch trees. Enjoy trail walks around the property and watching the sunset over the Taconic Mountains from the top of the hill. Outdoor facilities include a backyard patio with lounge seating and table for alfresco meals, plus a fire-pit with 4 chairs. LOCATION Under 30 minutes by car from the popular towns of Hudson and Rhinebeck, and 15 minutes from Millerton and Red Hook, Pine Plains is conveniently located in the heart of the Hudson Valley making it the perfect homebase. Enjoy and explore the many restaurants, shops, antique stores nearby - dinner at Stissing House, named by the NY Times as one of America’s best new restaurants, is a must. We highly recommend a visit to Fat Apple Farm and Chaseholm Farm Stores (both just minutes away) for the best fresh local eggs, cheese, butter and meats you can find in the Hudson Valley. Adventure seeking guests will love exploring the great outdoors - hike up Stissing Mountain or swim in Stissing Lake, and in winter you can hit the ski slopes with Catamount Mountain resort just 30 mins away. Guest access You will have complete privacy during your stay. With the exception of the barn and garage, the entire property is yours to enjoy. We are available to you during your stay - only a phone call/message away. You will be able to self check-in upon arrival. Other things to note Pets: small, house-trained dogs are welcome with prior approval (and $120 fee per pet). Pets are not allowed on the furniture or in the beds, and additionally cleaning fees will apply if anything is damaged/soiled by a pet. Dogs must be leashed and supervised when in the yard. Children: a high chair and travel crib/pack & play, crib sheets and safety gate for the stairs are available upon request. The kitchen is equipped with kids plates, cutlery and cups. Please note the pond is not fenced. EV Charger: a 220V/30amp Tesla/Electric Vehicle charger is available for your use. If you have a non-Tesla EV, please note you can use the outlet but will need to provide your own cable. Parking: plenty of space for up to 5 cars Solar Power: the house is equipped with 3 solar panels to reduce its environmental impact, plus a generator that will automatically turn on in the rare event there is a power outage. Sauna: you are welcome to enjoy the sauna during your stay. Please follow the instructions, which you will find in the guest book at the house. Use of the sauna is at your own risk. Nature: we are in the country - please be mindful and cautious of the local wildlife during your stay. This means no food or garbage left outside, please close doors and windows, etc.
