This modest cottage is located on a working farm at Barry Corner, where the Barry family lived from 1864-1881. Anna Barry was the teacher of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The farm is just up the hill from Pepin, and a short distance from Stockholm, Maiden Rock, and Plum City. The cottage is attached to a garage space where you might enjoy sitting when the weather is right! You'll enjoy the quietness of rural life, while also taking in a bit of farm charm. The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking needs. The Farmhand Cottage is attached to a garage where you'll find patio furniture and a grill for outdoor cooking. Please open doors for air circulation while using grill or move grill outside. Enjoy a walk in the 120 year old grove of trees directly behind the cottage, and enjoy the view of cows roaming the beef pasture from the cottage. We won't enter the guest space during your stay, but because this is a working farm you might see the farmers feeding or caring for their animals or land during your stay. Try your hand at grilling a delicious cut of beef or pork raised on the farm, or pack a picnic with our sausage or snack sticks and head just a half mile away to the Laura Ingalls Wilder cabin. There are many local restaurants and wineries to enjoy. We are just up the hill from Villa Bellezza Winery, a short drive from A-Z pizza farm, The Harbor View, The Stockholm Pie Company, and much more! Enjoy a day on Lake Pepin, hike a bluff, shop the many local shops in Stockholm, or take a drive up to the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery to enjoy some fresh cheese curds made from milk from local dairy farms. The farm is located on County Road CC at an intersection that gives you access to the Pepin County ATV trails which are a network of township and County roads. Bring your trailer full of ATV's! There is plenty of room to unload your ATV and hop onto the Pepin County trails. We ask that you don't drive around our property, as there are not trails. Enjoy a bicycle trip down to Pepin and around the many country roads. If you're driving a vehicle, be sure to slow down and enjoy the beautiful drive! Just a handful of miles away is the Great River Road, which has been named one of the most beautiful drives in the United States! We also ask that if you are following a farm implement on that road that you follow safe driving rules, and don't pass on a solid yellow line. We want our visitors and our local farmers to make it home safely.
