This is a mini-farm in the making, with friendly funny chickens begging for treats! After a day at the beach or boating, take a dip in the pool, relax in the hot tub, or sway in a hammock under the oaks with a good book. Build a bonfire, make s'mores. A starry sky is the limit! Where else can you find a tropical oasis that includes a mini-farm, super friendly chickens popping out fresh eggs like gumball machines, a pool so wet you can swim in it, a hot tub so relaxing you will be asking for a wake up call, and more parking than you can shake a stick at, in a peaceful rural setting, yet just 5 minutes from the two major north-south interstate highways? OUTDOORS GALORE! Mini-farm in the works, on unincorporated land in Manatee County. There is tons of space and lots of local areas to play, so bring your bicycles, horses, boats, RVs, motorcyles and golf carts. WHERE IS IT? Close to everything, quick easy access to I-75 and I-275. 20-30 minutes to nearby beaches, depending on the season and traffic. 15 minutes to Bradenton, Ellenton Outlet Mall or downtown St Petersburg, where you can dine, shop and bop till you drop. Picturesque, quaint Anna Maria Island lies at the tip of Bradenton. Flanked by the edge of Terra Ceia Nature Preserve with miles of hiking, biking, and kayaking trails. Hafway between Sarasota International Airport (SRQ), and Tampa International Airport (TPA). 40 minutes and 35 minutes, respectively. WHAT DO WE HAVE? Firewood burning firepit and skewers for s'mores or hot dogs A huge fenced yard, big enough* to play kickball, corn hole, jumbo jenga, badminton, or 4-square volleyball. Hammocks and swings in the oak trees, surrounded by lush, tropical foliage. Private screened patio with string lights, lounging furniture, a table for 6, and a Bluetooth speaker so you can dine, play games and enjoy your own music in privacy, day or night. Where else can you stay that has an outdoor tropical patio bar and grill with a projector TV and fans that keep you cool and blow the mosquitos away? Propane grill, lounging area and an outdoor table for 6. Additional tables and seating can be pre-arranged for special occasions. 60 inch smart TV in living room, and 43 inch smart TVs in both bedrooms. Hulu, Disney+, Max, Netflix and Amazon Prime included. Each bedroom features an ultra comfy Beautyrest or Serta pillow top mattress, queen size, with slightly different firmness levels to choose from. Also in the bedroom: Sound machines, oft rugs, full size mirrors, multiple pillow choices, to ensure you have everything you need for a great night's sleep. If more than 4 guests are staying, additional guests can either sleep on one of the full length couches or a stowaway queen memory foam bed can be added to the rental, which can fold up and fit in the corner of the living room when not in use. Bedding is also supplied for this or the couch, and an extra nightly fee applies. It is important to request the extra bedding supplies in advance to give the host time to have it in available for your visit. Your rental home is a house with its own driveway, carport, outdoor screened lanai and a small sideyard space that can be enclosed with a pet fence if you wish. Guest access The park-like atmosphere of this tropical minifarm is shared with your friendly host, Kathleen, who lives onsite, in the main house. Your house is separated by a small lattice fence, but the entire half-acre property is for you to enjoy and explore. There is always a project or 3 going on as Kathleen is still creating and recreating since the hurricanes of 2024, so photos of the yard are going to look a little different regardless of when you visit. It is always in a state of transition but your favorite amenities are here and available, unless otherwise mentioned. Feel free to bring your portable speaker for your tunes - music on the patio is way of life here. Bird watchers, bring your binoculars. We are surrounded by Terra Ceia Preserve so you might catch a glimpse of some exciting birds - we usually have an Osprey nest within view from the backyard! Bikes, motorcycles, boats, kayaks, jetskies, RVs, ATVs, golf carts, horse trailers (yes, you can bring the ponies!). All are welcome, we have plenty of room for them to park, and places nearby to enjoy them all. There are local fishing holes and kayak launches, and (almost forgot to mention) a pretty fun looking skateboard park nearby. RAINY SEASON Palmetto averages about 0.5 inches of rain on days when it wet-season rains. This usually falls during brief, heavy afternoon thunderstorms that last around 30 to 60 minutes.
