Fish & Whistle Lakeside Cottage

Enjoy sunny days, beautiful sunsets, and warm bonfires at this cozy, newly renovated cottage on Elk Lake. Fish year round or enjoy the many recreational trails nearby. After a day of kayaking, swimming, or paddle boarding, walk one lot over to the Elk Lake Bar - a local favorite for dinner and drinks. They often have live music on the weekends to enjoy as well. Located between West Branch and Gladwin you’ll find dining options, groceries, golf courses and local shops. Life is better at the lake! The space Our cozy cottage has been completely renovated and is the perfect size for a family. Please note that due to elevated parking our property is not wheelchair accessible. There are 4 stairs leading down to the entrance. Also, we welcome little ones but want parents to be aware that while there is a shower there is no bathtub. Elk Lake is great for pontooning, kayaking and paddle boarding. The bottom of the lake is soft by our cottage so swimming is best out a little ways. It gets deep very quickly once you’re past the dock. We have a swimming platform past the dock that the kids have a lot of fun jumping off and playing on. The water is 10-12 feet deep at the swimming platform and almost 50 feet deep just a little further out. Lake activities are at your own risk and the use of appropriately sized life vests is highly recommended (and required by law to be worn for those under 14 and available for those over 14 when on a boat or paddle board). Guest access At Fish & Whistle you’ll enjoy access to the cottage with two parking spaces. We are available by phone or text should you need anything but we will respect your privacy during your visit. Other things to note The Elk Lake Bar is next door. It is a great place to hop on over to for a sandwich, burger or Friday Fish Fry and a drink. The owners are wonderful locals who have done a great job with the place since they took over a couple years ago. It can get busy, especially on weekend nights when they often have live music. While they are always respectful of the surrounding cottages in our residential area by keeping the restaurant windows closed, there will be times when the music can still be heard through the windows. This is generally not bothersome to people who have stayed with us and the bands are typically done by 10 or 11 pm on weekend nights, we believe it is important for you to be aware of this prior to booking with us.
