Le Paon – at the Château de Planquery

What if you could spend a few days surrounded by almost 1,000 years of history? Le Paon is part of Château de Planquery, whose oldest towers date back to the Viking era. A peaceful, comfortable room with a private bathroom awaits you, along with a large enclosed garden surrounding the Château. You can cook for yourselves in the small kitchen or relax in the cosy lounge. And dogs? They are very welcome here. The space Le Paon – a room with history beneath your feet Le Paon is located in one of the old defensive towers of Château de Planquery. The oldest parts of the Château date back to the Viking era – and you will find a piece of that history right in your room. A special feature is the old Norman terracotta floor tiles, known as tomettes. They have been part of this room for centuries and were even documented by archaeologists. Today, you quite literally walk across a floor that is part of the Château’s history. You can also use our small lounge with kitchen and, of course, the large garden surrounding the Château. Here, history is not something you simply look at – you can live in it for a few days. Guest access The garden – plenty of space to unwind Surrounding the Château is our large garden with old trees, a lawn and plenty of peaceful spots. Just find your favourite place – to read, enjoy a glass of wine or simply do nothing at all. Birdsong is everywhere, and now and then you’ll hear the horses neighing in the field next door. At dusk, bats circle through the garden, and at night you can hear the owls calling. And when night falls over the Château, look up: far from bright city lights, the Milky Way reveals itself – and on some summer nights, shooting stars dart across the sky. The garden is yours to enjoy – although our dogs are always happy to share it with you. During your stay We live right next door – in the other tower. Close enough if you feel like having a chat, hearing a story from almost 1,000 years of Château history or getting a personal tip for exploring Normandy. And far enough away for you to enjoy the peace and your stay entirely at your own pace. If you need anything, we’re simply here. Outside, a comfortable seating area awaits you – with a small barbecue for those who enjoy eating outdoors. And dogs? They’re not simply allowed here – they’re genuinely welcome. We live at the Château with our own dogs and know that four-legged family members belong on holiday too.
