Private pond, star-gazing, a deck made for lingering, and hiking access — all wrapped in Blue Ridge stillness. FloydFest, the Jamboree, wineries, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are within easy reach. This is Buffalo Bliss — a handcrafted retreat on 5 private acres in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, built by local artisan Chris Ormsby of Utopian Homes with every detail considered and nothing wasted. Summer here is something special. Paddle the private ponds as morning mist lifts off the water. Spot deer, geese, rabbits, turtles, birds, and the occasional bear from the raised deck. Catch an unforgettable sunset and watch fireflies light up the fields at dusk, then stay out for an amazing star show — Willis is designated one of the darkest, least light-polluted places in the country. When you're ready to venture out, you're perfectly placed: FloydFest, the Friday Night Jamboree at the Floyd Country Store, Chateau Morrisette Winery, Villa Appalachia, and miles of Blue Ridge Parkway hiking are all within easy reach. Come back to a chef's kitchen with a gas stove, farm sinks, and butcher block counters — then soak it all away in the spa tub or the hand-laid river stone shower. There's no TV at Bliss. The mountains, wildlife, and sky will be the most enthralling binge-watching you do all year. We guarantee it. Guest access There is an automatic gate at the entrance that should remain closed at all times. A remote control for the gate will be supplied at the time of check-in. Full instructions for retrieving the remote will be provided once your booking is confirmed. The main entrance to Bliss will be unlocked upon arrival. There is a house key inside the door to use during your stay. The driveway to Bliss is approximately 1 mile from the main paved road and this section is gravel. Although it is maintained, there may be some ruts and washout after heavy rain. Other things to note Co-host Chris lives in the house up the hill from Bliss. He is available any time for assistance or to answer questions. Chris and Rosalie sometimes enjoy a fire in his fire pit, watching the sunset on nice spring, summer, and fall nights. Chris and Rosalie also take walks around the ponds. Guests may be welcome to join them.
