Sappho’s Cove, above the sea

Sappho’s Cove is a stylish and magical seaside apartment on a pretty little beach at the edge of a traditional fishing village, Xylokeratidi, one of the best-secrets of the Cyclades. It features a sumptuous bedroom suite and a large veranda with panoramic views across the Bay of Katapola. Steps lead directly into the sparkling waters below. A delight for swimmers and gourmets alike, the apartment is surrounded by great beaches, with excellent tavernas and restaurants close at hand. The space Sappho’s Cove is a self-contained apartment unlike any other on the island. The spacious veranda is furnished with a large stone table and cushioned benches for dining and lounging, along with wicker armchairs, a hammock, and a ceiling fan. The terrace is literally cantilevered over its own little pebble cove, complete with sun-loungers and a fresh-water shower. The apartment has been lovingly restored by the owners and filled with art, antiques, and traditional lace. Truly a home-away-from-home. The sumptuous Coco-Mat bed is grand king-sized. There is a well-equipped bijou kitchen, a ceiling fan, silent air conditioning , WiFi connection that extends to the veranda, and a library of books. Only five minutes away on foot, the local fishing harbour offers some of the island's best waterfront restaurants, bars, and cafes. Fresh fish is landed every morning. The apartment gives directly onto hiking paths connected to the island's famous network of ancient trails. One of the loveliest beaches on the island, Maltesi, with its ultra-turquoise waters, white sand and shaded sun loungers, is a 20-minute stroll along a sandy corniche. A local boat connects with other great swimming spots every half hour or so. The apartment is not suitable for young children. Guest access While the entrance to a second apartment (which has its own separate and dedicated terrace) is accessed through the veranda, the veranda is otherwise reserved for the exclusive use of Sappho’s guests.
