Looking for a writing retreat? A base for hiking or biking adventures? A home-away-from-home while working in the Montpelier area? Perhaps you simply need some solitude. If so, this truly unique, handcrafted cottage is the ideal getaway – private and peaceful, yet just ten miles north of Vermont’s beautiful capital city. A country store, community pub, swimming area, and woods trails are all in easy walking distance; and challenging mountain hiking a short drive away. The cottage is a tiny, post-and-beam house, built by a master craftsman. It includes: separate bathing room with a slipper-foot tub, Victorian half-bath, meditation space, window seat, limited kitchen facilities, twin bed with organic memory foam mattress, custom wrought iron hardware, outdoor relaxation space, and more. The entire cottage. I am generally available if guests have questions or concerns, but I don't interrupt my guests' solitude unless absolutely necessary, since so many choose the cottage as a solo retreat. The cottage is set back from a dirt road, and about 100 feet up a path from the main house on the property. Only one other house, across the road, is in view as the homes in the immediate vicinity are on large lots. There is a country store 1/4 mile away where the paved road begins and leads ten miles to Montpelier, the nation's smallest capital city. Guests will need a car (or at least a bicycle) as the cottage is ten miles from "town" and there is no public transportation. I provide fresh-ground organic coffee on request.
