'Jellybean' is a lovingly restored 1974 TINY houseboat nestled on the mudflats of an RSPB bird reserve on the West Sussex coast. She is one of the smallest narrowboats in the world- 15ft long and 5ft10” high (PLEASE NOTE THE SIZE ). She has all you need to switch off and relax!. The beach is only a 2 minute walk away, and Shoreham by Sea, Worthing and Brighton are all easily accessible. Jellybean is a safe space for solo guests or couples to escape. PLEASE READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION! Thanks! The space Described as ‘the Volkswagen camper of the waterways’ … this TINY houseboat is a real gem! Jellybean is small but has all you need for a relaxing comfortable stay. As you enter the back doors, down some little steps, you will find a kitchen on the left with a sink, worktop, mini fridge and gas cooker with hob, grill and oven. All you need in fact to prepare a simple meal. Tea, coffee, milk, salt, pepper and oil are all provided. On the right you will find a small custom hip bath/ shower with a lovely hot shower and environmentally friendly shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided ( this facility is VERY SMALL , you CANNOT stand in it, only sit, please note before booking) Next to the bath is a separate room with a flushing macerator toilet ( this space is also VERY SMALL, please note before booking) As you move further in, you will see another worktop and storage shelves for your clothes and personal effects. Opposite this, there is a built in seat and small custom made dining table to enjoy meals or work from. Fast WiFi is provided for free. We have also provided high end oil filled heaters to keep you cosy and warm all year round. We also put in an electric blanket to keep you snug at night (winter months only) In the summer months, we provide a fan for your comfort. Jellybean is connected to our mains water and to our mains power supply. The windows are all provided with custom made curtains and black out linings. The portholes have ‘bungs’ which cut out the light in the evening. There is a high quality SMALL DOUBLE memory foam mattress ( 4 ft x 6’2”)furnished with fresh linens. PLEASE NOTE THE BED SIZE. We also provide all towels ( we can provide beach towels upon request) and are happy to change these regularly for longer stays. At the front of the boat are 2 french windows which open out to provide a gorgeous view of the nature reserve. There are some books and games for entertainment, but NO tv so bring a device for watching if you so wish. We can also provide free access to bikes, helmets, and a kayak upon request. JELLYBEAN HAS AN INTERNAL HEIGHT OF 5ft 10” ( with 5ft 8” support beams) -please bare this in mind when booking if you are tall! If you think she may be too small for your needs, maybe consider renting ‘Rhubarb and Custard’, our other larger narrowboat next door. We are also open to group bookings where you can book all 3 places ( sleeping up to 12 people sharing beds ) subject to availability. Guest access The whole of Jellybean is your private space. She is accessed from our jetty, via a custom made metal pontoon. The door is quite small and therefore not suitable for anyone who has mobility issues. The height of Jellybean is 5’10” ( with 5’8” support beams ) and she is 18'6" in length ( living space is 15 foot) As she floats occasionally please be aware she has some movement. This only lasts a few hours at a time and mostly she is sat stationary on the mudflats. If this is a concern, please message me to ask about the tides and I will be happy to tell you whether she will float or not for your preposed stay. Other things to note This is a very close knit community so we ask guests to be quiet and considerate in the evenings, especially after 11pm at night. Smoking is not permitted inside the boat but is fine outside. No parties . Parking is available for a small charge behind the boats in Beach Green car park. This is free from 6pm to 9am. You can also park for free on Beach Road, a 5 minute walk to the boat. The road behind the boats is resident permit parking. Jellybean is a baby narrowboat, so will NOT be best suited for anyone with mobility difficulties. To access jellybean guests need to climb a flight of steps in our garden, the head down a gently sloped pontoon. IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT ACCESS, PLEASE MESSAGE ME BEFORE BOOKING FOR ADVICE. PLEASE NOTE THE SIZE AND HEIGHT BEFORE YOU BOOK! as I we have tried to be honest about this! She is TINY! Jellybean has limited storage so please remember this if travelling with big luggage. We can accommodate suitcases in our shed if that helps.
