The Shepherdess's Cottage

The 4-star Gîte de la Bergère is nestled in a 10,000 m² park in the heart of the Plaine de l'Angélus park. It offers a private jacuzzi facing a 110 m² shared swimming pool. Designed for 4 to 6 people, it has a car park and two terraces: one for enjoying the jacuzzi or an aperitif, the other for al fresco dining. A boules court, table tennis table, badminton and bicycles are available free of charge to enhance your stay. The space The cottage offers a warm and bright living space under a cathedral ceiling, where the living room and dining room come together around a large sofa (which can be used as a bed), a wood-burning fireplace and a large television for cosy evenings. Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen (hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer) to cook as if you were at home. Enjoy two spacious bedrooms, each with a large bed (one queen-size and one king-size), reversible air conditioning, a television, and a private bathroom and toilet for your comfort. Towels, end-of-stay cleaning, and free Wi-Fi are included for a worry-free stay. Everything has been designed to make you feel at home. Guest access To reach the Plaine de l'Angelus estate, where the Bergère gîte is located, from Paris, take the A6 motorway towards Fontainebleau. After about 40 minutes, leave the A6 at the Fontainebleau exit, then follow the D606 and D607 towards Chailly-en-Bière (allow between 50 and 60 minutes). There are no tolls on this route. From Orly Airport, take the A6 towards Fontainebleau (follow the signs for ‘A6a’ or ‘A6b’ depending on your starting point). Continue on the A6, then take the D606 and D607 towards Chailly-en-Bière (40 minutes). From Charles-de-Gaulle Airport, take the A1 towards Paris, then switch to the A6 towards Fontainebleau. Then follow the D606 and D607 to Chailly-en-Bière. The journey takes between 1 hour 10 minutes and 1 hour 20 minutes. To get there by public transport from Paris, take line R (from Gare de Lyon station, direct train to Melun in 30 minutes, then to Bois-le-Roi in 5 minutes). In Melun, take bus line 3429 (towards Chailly-en-Bière) and get off at the ‘Mairie’ stop. The total journey time is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. You can also take a taxi or private hire vehicle from Melun or Bois-le-Roi stations. Access to the gîte is via the main courtyard of the Domaine de la Plaine de l'Angélus. Our guests can park their vehicles there. Access to the gîte is then via a path about 100 metres long that winds through the park. Other things to note The cottage is located on the Plaine de l'Angelus estate. It's an invitation to get away from it all, just a stone's throw from the Forest of Fontainebleau and picturesque villages such as Barbizon. Here, you can let yourself be carried away by the charm of a characterful estate where an 18th-century residence and a cottage surrounded by a one-hectare flower garden offer an elegant and welcoming setting. To help you unwind, the estate offers dedicated wellness areas: a shared outdoor swimming pool, a private therapeutic spa with 38°C water for moments of pure relaxation, and on-site massages (book in advance). The atmosphere is conducive to serenity, with walks in the park, the plains and the forest, relaxing on the terraces and refreshing swims. There is no shortage of activities for fun and entertainment: bicycles are available to explore the surrounding area, and there is a pétanque court, a badminton court and a ping-pong table for outdoor games. Every detail has been designed to combine conviviality and a change of scenery in a preserved environment. Located on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, close to castles and cultural sites, La Plaine de l'Angelus is a bucolic retreat where you can savour the art of country living, combining nature, comfort and a gentle way of life.
