Description

✨ 16th Century Chapel Retreat with Lake Views ✨ Escape to a truly unique stay in this beautifully restored 16th-century chapel, set within 60 acres of established gardens and overlooking a tranquil lake. Full of history, character, and romance, this one-of-a-kind retreat is perfect for couples seeking peace, privacy, and something a little special. The space Enter through the original monks’ entrance into a charming lounge filled with authentic period features, including exposed stonework, original beams, and stunning mullion windows that frame uninterrupted views across the grounds. The lounge offers two stylish sofas and a TV, making it an inviting space to relax after a day exploring. A small staircase leads down to the well-equipped kitchen, ideal for preparing relaxed meals together. The property also features a king-size bedroom and a modern en-suite shower room with WC, combining comfort with historic charm. Outside, guests can enjoy the surrounding gardens and peaceful setting, with off-road parking for two cars provided. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a quiet countryside escape, this unique chapel offers an unforgettable stay in a truly magical setting. Guest access The Chapel is one of the properties located within the Cheyney Estate. Guests will have access to explore the grounds of the Cheyney Estate during their stay. Other things to note We purchased Cheyney Park in September 2018 and have since spent time refurbishing the three properties on site. Wherever possible, we have used local tradespeople and sourced furnishings and accessories from nearby businesses. Much of the furniture has been supplied by Meyer and Marsh, based at the Hop Pocket Shopping Village, just down the road in Bishop’s Frome. The Hop Pocket is well worth a visit during your stay, with its many independent shops and hidden treasures, or for a coffee or lunch in the restaurant. Their Sunday lunch is particularly popular, and they aim to use locally sourced produce. There are two pubs in the centre of the village, both serving food: The Green Dragon and The Chase Inn. A little further afield, you’ll find The Major’s Arms, reached via the back lanes, and The Wheatsheaf at the top of Fromes Hill, which has a very good reputation for its food. For essentials, there is a convenience store at Fromes Hill where you can purchase basic supplies along with a few extras. Should you experience any vehicle problems during your stay, there is also a small repair garage in the village centre — B C Partridge and Son.
